PS. A mushroom tea. Never heard of it. Wow, thanks for info.
The term "mushroom tea" is deceiving; it is not made from the mushrooms you find growing in the forests! Kombucha is a fermented drink which originated in Asia where it was made from seaweed. As it moved westward into Russia, etc. people would make it from black tea. The "mushroom" refers to the mass (also known as a "mother") which forms as the tea ferments. It is the mushroom that is saved to make a new batch of kombucha after the first one is complete. It consists of healthy bacteria which is good for your health.(Probiotics)
My daughters all make it and swear that it keeps them free from illness! Store-bought kombucha is kind of trendy in the U.S. now, but my daughters make their own "home brew".
