strawberries.. to de-bug them. or you're brewing something..
i've never seen cranberries in PL but PL is definitely in their range.
Cranberries weren`t available in Poland when you were still here. But I saw them at the fruit market a few weeks ago, sadly their price was higher than other fruit. That is why they are not too popular, but are available at least.
Why is there a monument near Krakow marking the site where the border between Russian and Austrian partition was?
because it was the border.. i am sure it's a historical structure now.. it may also delineate a present day voyvodship or something.
Historically, it only marks the partition border. But there is also sociology and culture. Partitions were long enough for Poles in 3 occupation zones to evolve culturally and mentally in a different way.
The differences have often stayed till today. E.g., Krakow region, once under Austrian partition, usually votes for right- wing parties and against communists or socialists in various political elections (though there are exceptions). while people from Kielce region (former Russian zone) tend to prefer socialists.
Yes, but only after at least one foreigner answers.
This condition is fulfilled - Jeanne tried her hand.
Okay, Tufta, I have tried and failed...now please enlighten us!!! ;D
Jeanne, I think you did just great. I am not so sure if my try on "Why are they getting so in public? Bride, yes, what is she doing there?" is correct, not at all. But it may be what they are doing is a part of a photographic session. For some unknown reason the just married couples in Poland love them. It usually takes place between the wedding ceremony and the wedding party. So, am i right in this specific case, Bo?

Yes, yes, yes. This tradition was started by my brother-in-law. They went to the Botanical Gardens in Krakow a few years ago and took wonderful photos.
Today all newly weds have outdoor sessions somewhere green.
