Tufta, did you know that David Gilmour has a 'Live in Gdansk' CD/DVD set coming out on September 23rd? The Comfortably Numb solo is awesome!

I must disagree with you, Bonobo. Pink Floyd rocks! It didn`t rock me at all. It shattered me with its boring and morose music. ;D ;D ;D The truth is I heard a few songs and decided it is not for me, so I didn`t listen to more. But guys, please, don`t give me links to youtube performances of PF. It would be a futile attempt to arouse my interest in those melancholic bores. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Who says the youtube performances were for you? Clearly they are for the confirmed PF fans, which you may have noted are currently numbering 3:1.

I was aware of the concert as the media were full of it, but I didn't know about the CD. Thanks! Exactly, Loco! Some older PF stuff for everyone, as not at all morose ;-) (Bo, be a good friend and excuse me ;D ;D ;D pl.youtube.com/watch?v=91c8S9OobCw&feature=related

This music discussion and varying musical tastes revealed, gave me an idea. Would anyone like to name or even post youtube links to his.her favourite musical hits from the 'old times'? Whatever this 'old times' are of course. The ones that were somehow important for you, moved you etc, and which you still like. Is it a good idea?

So...do you think we need to start a thread in 'Life Is a Fatal Disease' where we can put all of these movie discussions? I find them to be very therapeutic (similar to listening to 80's music). ;D I'm all for it! Would you prefer to have just music, or also include movies/theater/art etc. - anything that has had an impact on us?

Ha! Who says the youtube performances were for you? Clearly they are for the confirmed PF fans, which you may have noted are currently numbering 3:1. I thought you all would try to persuade me into giving PF one more chance with youtube clips. No way!!! I have better things to do than to listen to some obsessed maniacs who sang bad songs about teachers!!!!!!! Hey Bonobo, Here is a primate related youtube video for you. It's one of my favorite songs. ;D It will have to wait as I am deprived of sound on my comp. But soon I will repair it... I heard about this group... Great idea! I had a similar thought about movies. I will happily join it..... ;D

I listened to those Gorillas at school and it`s definitely not my kind of music. I think I would even prefer to listen to PF than Gorillas.

Wow, you must have really not liked it!!! ;D ;D The Gorillaz song is a bit different. I like the heavy bass line, the tempo changes, and the blending of styles. The rap parts have some...interesting lyrics. When such songs are played on the radio, many of the "bad" words are either deleted or changed to something more innocuous. But I still try to be careful about what I listen to when I have the kids in the car with me. I still remember the day that I was listening to Aerosmith as I drove my then 3 year-old son to preschool. When we got to his classroom, he rushed in, started playing a bit of air guitar and shouted at the top of his voice, "Dude looks like a la-dy!". At which point all of teachers and the other parents turned to stare at me, and I had to sheepishly explain that I (we) had been listening to Aerosmith in the car.

I hate rap. I don`t like listening to tabboo expressions in songs or people`s speech. I use them myself sometimes, yes, but mostly for fun, to emphasize certain message. In rednecks`speech taboo words carry the message and that`s unacceptable. My 6 yo son heard a sentence during vacation: Men/dudes are swine on the radio. For a few weeks, when I called him a man/dude, he answered: I am not a man, because men are swine. Don`t call me a swine, dad. He said it first in a campsite`s kitchen full of women, and you can imagine how they laughed.

Guys, coming back from work today I found a program about PF. A few songs were played, and also a few songs from Wright`s first solo album.
My impression? I think this music is deadly. It should be banned on the radio because it is able to put a man to sleep in a minute. You can imagine the dire consequences of my falling asleep at the wheel if I hadn`t drunk a cup of coffee before. BOOOORING! To death.
And I don`t only mean the slow tempo. I know slow songs which are beautiful. But that wasn`t the case with PF and Wright. . The worst thing is that the melody of all those songs is so bland, they are all alike, hard to differentiate one from another. If I wanted to hum a tune, I would be in trouble.
Guys, never ever PF.
