To all the group,
I have a oil painting, could be old, left me, from my uncle who passed away, a few years ago. It is a painting of a Polish wedding, in folk attire, in a wagon. The artist name is like mine, Stanislaw Dabrowski. I need for the insurance company, the value of this painting. I have tried several places, no one, yet has been able to help, can you? You could know of a place where I can E-mail for more information, if you do, please let me know.

He painted portraits, landscapes, still life, events etc. A lot of his painitngs are devoted to the highland area of the Tatra Mountains, his favourite holiday destination. Mike, I must disappoint you. He wasn`t a renown artist. He was in the last league. I can hardly find anything about him on the Net. Yet, I did find something. An auction: www.artinfo.pl/?lng=1&lngcode=pl&pid=catalogs&sp=auction&id=700&page=3&sobj=1Look at the lot number 228: Stanisław Dąbrowski`s painting. The bidding price: 4700 zł. It makes exactly 2000$. It wasn`t sold. www.artinfo.pl/?pid=catalogs&sp=auction&id=700&id2=86137&lng=1He was also an art expert and put his authenticity signiture on many paintings.

Where did you find this information? I must admit that I spent about 30 minutes googling it for you. Dąbrowski isn`t in Wikipedia. I tried several entries, one of them: www.tatry.z-ne.pl/t,lista_alfabet,pol,tatry,1243,0,d.html And eventually, when I typed "Dąbrowski auction," I got the painting.

Information could be good, or not, but does everything have to have a price on it? I in the past, have paid, and got nothing of any value for my money. Is there not some free research with good information? Please advise.

Mike I thought that if you have lived all your life in the fiercest country in the world, you should have already learnt that nothing is for free. And if you were ripped before, that is bad luck, indeed, but doesn`t mean the next time will be for free. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
