Bo, Thanks for posting these! My grandmother had one much like the first picture. My grandparents lived in an old farmhouse that had a "summer kitchen" attached to the back of it. It was a large room (maybe 5m X 5m) where the cooking was done in the summer so that the rest of the house was not heated by the process. Vivian also had a natural gas stove and later an electric range in the room as well. When it was time for canning food in the fall she would insist upon using "the old stove" exclusively for the process. In the spring she would finish Maple syrup with that stove as well, what a great smell! Thanks again for reminding me of those great memories.
