Old Poland, except for a few major cities, castles/mansions etc built of brick or stone used wood/timber as its primary construction material. Smaller towns and villages used to be all wooden once. Usually they got destroyed during wars or invasions.
Nowadays, wood is still seen in architecture. Either old constructions managed to survive till today, or new ones are erected according to traditional designs.
New inn/restaurant and guest house, built last year.
And how do you know this, and not that our early settlers, the Indians did not live in log homes also? Poland and the rest of Europe does have many homes made of wood, but not many the type in the photo's, western log homes.

Because Indians were nomads. They used to follow herds of bisons on which they subsisted. There was no point in building log houses. So, they didn`t have a permanent address like white people in towns and cities. Didn`t you read Alfred Szklarski`s novels about American Indians?? E.g., Mały Bizon ?? or The Black Mountains Gold, subtitled The Last Fight of Dakotas?

Such houses are rare, indeed, if we take the total amount of living places in Poland. But in rural areas they are not so unusual.
And, most of the people in Poland don't know how to B.B.Q. or what it is even, but so what, they are great people anyway. Mike
Hmm, I wouldn`t be so sure. Poles who live in detached houses or at least have gardens know a lot about grilling and barbecue. Polish teams regularly win first prizes at European BBQ Championships.
Poles won first, second and third place in the open round of the 8th European Barbecue Championships held in Estonia. There were 13 teams from Switzerland, Germany, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Greece, Poland and Canada. The Polish team pulled far ahead of their rivals— they won the three top spots. The European Cup in Barbecuing went to the Polish BBQ Kings team of the National Association of Head and Pastry Chefs.
