. (Buying local and small business is a better idea.) But more expensive? Yes, perhaps, but what one saves in gas and aggravation makes it definitely worth it!!

Yes, perhaps, but what one saves in gas and aggravation makes it definitely worth it!! And you are spared the angry contestants and their pepper gas! On Black Friday 2011, a woman was reported[27] to have used pepper spray on fellow shoppers, causing minor injuries to at least 10 people who had been waiting hours for Black Friday savings. It was later reported that the incident caused 20 injuries. The incident started as people waited in line for the new Xbox 360. A witness said a woman with two children in tow became upset with the way people were pushing in line. The witness said she pulled out pepper spray and sprayed the other people in line. Another account stated: "The store had brought out a crate of discounted Xbox video game players, and a crowd had formed to wait for the unwrapping, when the woman began spraying people 'in order to get an advantage,' according to the police.[28] In an incident outside a Walmart store in San Leandro, California, one man was wounded after being shot following Black Friday shopping at about 1:45am.[

....like I said, one must be crazy to go anywhere near that stuff! It is a symbol of our times which isn`t going to disappear - excessive consumerism. However, the opposite trend is also crazy. I use silver duct tape to stick the tears, wore offs and holes in my favourite jeans so that they wear longer. How do you like it? ;D ;D ;D ;D

(...typical man...duct tape!!) ;D ;D ;D

I don't participate in such things. I'm with Jeanne on the Buy local and small business idea. The Idea of people clamoring for consumer products and treating each other poorly is pretty repulsive to me. Very low class.

They do. You only hear the most outrageous stories because the news media thrives on conflict and sensationalism.

You are so smart!! ;D ;D ;D Of course, you know, "sow" can also be pronounced to rhyme with "how", when one is referring to a female pig. "Sow" pronounced "so" refers to the scattering of seed...but I'm sure you know all that! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Jeanne, in POland adult citizens can take part in these votings: 1. Presidential. 2. Polish Parliament. 3. Local government, i.e. town councils, mayors, etc. 4. European parliament.
I am fairly sure it is the same in US except point 4, but I`d better ask for corroboration.

States can be quite large jurisdictions with varying regions within them with varying needs. Local for us is the immediate area in which we live: city, town, and in some places county.

The description of a an illustration is one of the final exam tasks. What would American/Dutch/other high school students say while describing a picture of a black man who is doing exercise? Two possibilities come to my mind – they wouldn`t mention the race in fear of polticial correctness. Second – they would but I am not sure – would they describe him as African American if they don`t know where he comes from? Black man is outdated. So what else?

Probably they would say African American...it might depend on the context in which they were shown the photo and asked to describe the man, though. Another possibility would be a "dark-skinned man." If they are being asked to describe what they see in the picture, they would most likely do just that, describe what the man looks like, not make judgements about where his ancestors came from or where the setting of the photo is. But, perhaps I'm being overly-optimistic in thinking high-schoolers brains would think like this...

I hear it quite frequently when someone is trying to physically describe a person whom they do not know. I similarly hear "light-skinned" person as well.
