Krzysztof Wojnarowski - my uni mate and a colleague (we worked in the same language school for a few years), became a pro photographer. He often told us about his passion and love for mountains and we sometimes shared our experiences, though mountains have never been such a hot topic for me. Later our ways split - he joined a language magazine editorial staff and then a language publishing house while I remained a teacher. oh, my God, he looks so .... serious today. Actually, everything what he did, was for serious, that`s how I remember him from younger days. I fooled around and generally had fun at uni or work, while he treated people and things seriously so as not to hurt anyone with disrespectful behaviour. One of the most decent people I have ever met in my life. Let me pay tribute to this great man with this thread. Wow...I am impressed also. As far as his looking serious...yes, he does...but some of us have to be serious!! We can't all be goofy, or the world would be in an even greater mess than it already is!!

Yes, half mankind must be serious so that the other half can be goofy. That`s how this world goes round. Is it our own choice which half we join or is our membership somehow predestined? Famous quote: Why, let the stricken deer go weep, The hart ungallèd play. For some must watch while some must sleep. So runs the world away.Do you know who from without googling? Note now that I am going to speak on a serious note now. Today I see things more clearly than in the past. I remember we talked about certain inability of famous climbers to live a placid life on the ground (and generally possible reasons for their trying to reach the skies). Chris vehemently argued that mountaineers don`t have any complexes or problems with their family and people around them and they don`t feel urged to prove anything to themselves or others, so they undertake dangerous expeditions solely to fulfill their dreams. Today I see that I smelled the rat. I mentioned Chris is extremely decent, much too decent for the typical society in which he has had to live. He once told me about the toxic atmosphere in his later workplace, the one with the editorial staff of a magazine. Their boss virtually spat out malice onto his environment. It wasn`t directed at Chris personally, because he was able to earn respect for himself, but he witnessed it and felt more and more uneasy and eventually left. I have always believed that people who hike or climb so high want to get rid of their earthly worries and stresses. Is it the case with Chris, too? Who knows..... In the high mountains where there is a deficit of oxygen but primarily of people, he can feel free from all those sick relations which prevail on the ground. Also, due to limited contact, he doesn`t have to worry about offending anybody with disrespectful behaviour, either on purpose (fairly impossible) or unintentionally.
