There are about 10 state hospitals in Kraków. 1 is wholly for children only, the rest have children wards.

The building has only two storeys but they installed a lift for the disabled.

Average waiting time is about 20-30 minutes. On rare occasions it lasts 1 hour or we can come in immediately upon arrival. It all depends on the season. The flu season is busy. The photos above were taken in a healthy season - the beginning of May.
My eldest son was so happy about Christmas Eve that he jumped all over the apartment. He hit his foot against the door frame. The last toe swelled and hurt. I decided to go to the emergency ward in the same hospital seen above.
We didn`t have to wait long, only about 15 minutes.
The foot had to be X-rayed. A novelty occured - they gave us a CD with the picture. And when we got back to the doctor`s room, they had already had the photo on their computer screen. Wow!
I realise it is a standard procedure in the West but I saw it here for the first time. I still keep the X-ray photos from my past sessions. Big and bulky, in giant light brown envelopes...
People without insurance or doctor`s referral have to pay a lot for tommography. Prices range from 180 to 350 zlotys.
