I'm saddened to hear of so many struggles. All I can really add is that anything horrible that happened to me ended up actually being for the better. I stopped working about a year ago. I made the decision to return to school and finish a degree that I had been working on for several years. I get a lot of job offers through LinkedIn,(damn head-hunters!) but I think it's more important for me to finish what I've started. I would add that years ago you never saw a Ph.D. in the classroom, today they are in every classroom. No adjuncts, no assistants, All Deans and Ph.D.'s Academia went bust in the same way that the housing market did I suppose.

Pjotr, I was pondering this thread today and came to the conclusion that Femen is the female equivalent of Football hooligans. Both are parasitic of some "cause" and both enjoy violence and disruption for the sake of violence and disruption. Your thoughts?

I love how in the third video she bites her own knee at 1:39. Like the wild beast that she is. I treat the Rad-Fems like the hate group that they really are. Scum manifesto, etc. They said it was "satire", then they shot Andy Warhol. Rad-Fems give lesbians a bad name.

HAHAHA! Sorry but I just couldn't resist!
I'm doing well. Back at the University, doing my studies and generally causing heavy mental anguish for people with poor reasoning skills. ;D ;D ;D
A Kobayashi Maru is just an un-winnable situation. Protesting gay rights is simply that. Understand that my view of politics and media is that of top-down manipulation and not a bottom-up response. Consequently, I view most media frenzy and social movements in terms a psychological operation. Oh well.
Gay rights is an emotionally charged issue, hence its selection as grapple point. It appeals primarily to the feminine and fighting against it simply bolsters negative stereotypes that compound the power of the argument. Look, if two consenting adults choose to live a certain way, what business is it of mine? You cannot legislate morality beyond what the majority will accept. The primary goal of many of these movements is to dislodge the church from authority both publicly and privately. You either understand and accept that or you do not. The reason they are effective is because to the less thoughtful of mind it exposes hypocrisy. If I were a strategist trying to combat this scenario, I would immediately counter with the idea that redefining marriage to include only gay couples doesn't go far enough! Secular bigotry against the religious is blatant and apparent in this movement! They are only fighting for their own "Special" rights while intentionally leaving out other groups (ie. Mormons, Islamics, Libertines, etc.). Suddenly the logical hypocrisy becomes apparent and the whole movement loses it's support because its desired end-game is severely compromised and the potential for dangerous alliances simply outweighs any benefit. In essence, use the movements inertia against itself.
Well! I've devoted much more time to this post than I intended. Wether you find it brilliant or insane is of little regard. The logic is flawless.
Afterthought: Because (at least in western society) all issues are framed in terms of the feminine, The oppositions immediate reply will be in terms of feminism. The proper response is "I have no right to tell a woman how many husbands she can have, why do you feel that you do?" KA-POW! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

You are all missing the forest for the trees. Gay "rights" is pushed as a precursor to the greater goal of identity politics. Unless Poland has laws specifically limiting the freedoms of Homosexuals, its kind of a Kobayashi Maru for the church and other more traditional groups. The best strategy is to ignore it completely without protest. Intentionally created conflict without opposition quickly loses public interest. Before you decide to call me bad names, realize that I am an egalitarian. I simply understand manipulation. 'rule of the majority over minority'. Identity politics inverts this.

My fault - I didn`t know I should have asked for the battery with the same power capacity to suit my phone. Stupid me. I disagree with this statement. You didn't specify if it was a phone shop or just a general electronics shop. Either way, If you go to a shop that specializes in something like electronic devices I would expect a competent seller to provide me with the component of the same capacity. The reason for seeking the help of a specialist is you assume they know more about something than you do. Any competent seller would have explained the difference and let you make the decision. The only way for this to be your fault would be if the seller offered you a selection of battery capacities and you chose based solely on price. Battery capacity is rated in ma/h. milliamp hours. 100ma/h is twice as much as 50ma/h, etc. I won't bore you with the number of electrons your battery can hold because I know you hate the math(s). But if I did, it would be in Coulombs, which is 6.25x10 18electrons.

It looks like the original is 45cm x 60cm. (18 x 24) Should turn out OK with what's here. I used Tin-Eye to try and find a higher resolution, but, no joy.

I figured you were a bird man. Patch looks like a good dog! Few people really understand the experience of working with an animal by your side. It gives you a greater understanding of your own humanity and the wonder that is the natural world. I get it. I asked about the chaps because I typically hunt W. Kentucky and deal with some pretty lethal snakes. (Copperhead, Cottonmouth, Timber Rattler.) Bow season is worse than Deer gun season, except on sunny days. Snake-proof boots and chaps are also good for keeping the pickers from shredding my thighs.
Here's some video I took last November. Nothing interesting till about 4:00.
I wish I knew where you could find a copy of the painting. Interestingly, When I looked at the painting and considered Bos' question, I noticed the man in the upper left pointing upwards. My guess would be that he is pointing at a cub in the tree. This presents an interesting moral dilema for all involved. To kill the bear would cause orphaning of the cubs, whilst not killing it may cause the death of the two nearest the bear. Having a man of the cloth in a hunting picture otherwise makes little sense. A statement about mercy or martyrdom perhaps.

Nice to meet you Crazyhorse! That's a pretty good looking dog you have there. I'm in SW Ohio. Are those snake-proof chaps or just trying to keep the pickers from tearing up your jeans?

Almost forgot.. My great uncle Vincent (from Poland) lies somewhere at the bottom of Lake Michigan. He died from pneumonia while working on a fishing boat in the early 1900's. Perhaps fishing is genetic for me.

Lake Michigan was fine when I left it. As always there are challenges and great successes. The fishery always has been dynamic and faced problems that were generally controlled with ingenuity and common purpose. Nature is always on the move and the only static ecosystem is a dead one. One of the latest guests has been the Goby fish. I believe you may be familiar with it. It caused some alarm but the native fish have begun to feed on it with some ferocity. I doubt it will be eradicated completely but control seems very possible. Generally speaking, the lakes have a fairly strong arsenal of predator fish to choose from and it becomes a matter of firing-up the hatcheries with the proper fish to deal with the problem. In a related matter, the zebra mussel problem has actually had benefit to some lakes by improving water clarity that benefits certain native fish. The WIKI article is actually not too bad on Lake Michigan. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lake_MichiganIf you remember, I am interested in rocks and general geology. Finding Petoskey stones along the shore as a young man helped spur this interest.

I like to eat particular types of fish. I brought home 20lbs of Walleye from lake Erie. It's a great eating fish and expensive to buy ($12.00 per pound) if you can even find it. The Salmon in lake Michigan is good too, but I always put them back because they have a job to do. For me it's the thrill of the hunt and the enjoyment of nature and friends while I fish. I don't really try to feed myself by fishing and hunting, but I easily could.
If I could catch a ham and swiss sandwich on rye bread, I might change my mind on "catch and release". ;D ;D ;D

Thought I would update this thread that my former BMI was 32 and is now 24.5. I found that not drinking soda was good for a 15 lb. reduction. My body weight was 235lbs and is now 180lbs. I have always been very physically active and over the course of a year the mass decreased very easily. Unfortunately, my wife is unhappy because she is still overweight and has little discipline.
Even though I drank 0 calorie drinks, I tend to believe that there is some other metabolic influence (or causation) tied to soda. Either way, I don't drink the stuff anymore. I still enjoy local craft beers though..

Gospel in the American religious vernacular is "Good News". Slang would be policy. Example: The company has issued a new conduct gospel.

Thanks! It was a pretty quiet birthday for me because the wife was in Savannah, Ga. for a week. BTW, Savannah has one of the biggest St. Pattys day parades in the U.S. It's one of my favorite places.
