Sorry I am late, but happy ALL SAINTS DAY, to all.
Today is the day to remember the family that has passed on.

I did my American version of Polish All Saints Day on Oct. 23rd when I visited my father's grave, as I knew I could not make it there today or this past weekend. I tell everyone what and why I am doing it when I go to the cemetery so that they will have an appreciation of Polish culture...

and one more for the All Saints day, or is it better for All Dead day tomorrow? I don't know. But what I know is that this is the day which was throughout my life the master among all other days concerning my learning or understanding something of this fine experience we are all subject to on Earth

I tell everyone what and why I am doing it when I go to the cemetery so that they will have an appreciation of Polish culture... I am not sure but I suppose you can buy candle lanterns in the USA? Yes, you can buy candle lanterns, though not many people do. My father is buried in the National Veteran's cemetery and the regulations there are very strict as to what you may place on graves. Cut or potted flowers only are allowed, and they are removed as soon as they wilt. Christmas and Easter decorations may be placed 6 weeks before the holiday, but are removed soon afterward. No candle lanterns are allowed there at all. All the headstones are laid flat in the ground and are all alike, so when you look out over the landscape there, it looks just like rolling hills, you cannot even see the stones at a distance. Some people lay small stones, shells or coins on the headstones and they are not removed by groundskeepers. My daughter and I brought a bouquet of cut flowers and placed them in an urn which the cemetery provides which sticks in the ground. I also brought a small, round white stone and left that on my father's grave and one on the grave of a friend who also happens to be buried near my father.
