The professional hunter was called upon the scene by local authorities who decided the moose was dangerous. What angered the residents, though, was the fact that the hunter didn`t try to put the moose to sleep first, as it was always done with earlier animal intruders, but he killed it at once.

This is when gun control is needed. This was a big waste.

This is when gun control is needed. This was a big waste. The hunter`s defence today is that there are 200 mooses living in Warsaw Kampinos Forest and that`s twice too much. He warns there will be more intrusions in the future... and claims that mooses can be dangerous, e.g., kill a man with one kick of their hoof.

I have been told, this can be good eating, have you ever had any boars? Not pure meat, like a steak, but I ate boar sausage once. It is quite expensive in Poland.

What is done with the seals that wash up, and they put back, or do they die? If they die, what is done with them?

What is done with the seals that wash up, and they put back, or do they die? If they die, what is done with them? Very good questions again. If a seal is OK, it comes back to water and swims away on its own. If the animal is inhured or exhausted, it is taken to Seals Aquarium in Hel for treatment and recuperation. We were there during last summer. See photos: polandsite.proboards104.com/index.cgi?board=places&action=display&thread=95&page=1#429

There are a few places in Poland which are famous for hosting colonies of hundreds of those birds. They are nice from a further distance.... www.foto.pwsk.pl/2008/05/21/rezerwat-lezczok/

I have never heard of any wild boar accident. You can see how big they are in the picture. In my opinion, quite big. But they tolerate people, and vice versa, and that`s what counts.

Seven grey seals found in Vistula estuary Polish Radio 28.10.2008
Seven grey seals have been observed in the estuary of the Vistula River, making researchers optimistic this was a sign that the animals may be coming back to the Polish Baltic coast.
So far, it is not certain if the colony is a permanent one, meaning one in which the seals will breed. For decades there has been no information about seals being born on Polish beaches, although young seals are frequent visitors here.
A colony of some 100 thousand grey seals lived in the Baltic at the turn of the 20th century, but the numbers plummetted to 4 and a half thousand in the 1980s. At the time, seal hunting was still legal in Scandinavian countries.

Accidentally I came across the news that whales also visit the Baltic Sea. Currently two humpbacks are swimming towards Polish coast. Last year there was one humpback: www.tvn24.pl/12690,1517804,1,1,wiadomosc.html And in summer this year another: www.tvn24.pl/12690,1559286,,,wieloryb-u-polskiego-wybrzeza,wiadomosc.html

Horse tramples 6 at Polish resort The Associated Press
WARSAW, Poland - Police say a frightened horse broke away from a sleigh it was pulling and trampled six people at a Polish mountain resort, leaving the victims in need of hospital treatment.
Police official Monika Krasnicka-Bros says the incident occurred Monday in Zakopane, a southern Polish town that is a popular winter vacation resort.
She says the horse trampled six people who were walking along a mountain ridge. They were taken to hospitals in ambulances and helicopters and some were seriously injured.
Police were not immediately sure what frightened the horse.
