Pjotr, This is an impressive list of cultural festivals and activities in Wrocław. Ofcourse with my background I am most interested in fine art/contemporary art. The festivals and developments in Wrocław which show the experimental, progressive and latest Polish art, the * Wrocław avant-garde. Painting, drawing, sculpture, Three dimensional, multi-media (video art, animation), performance and happening art, graphical art (Screen printing/Sitodruk, Etching, Lithography, Linocut, Woodcut and monotype) (Poland has very good graphical artists and a history of Poster art), subculture art (Graffiti, murals) and ancient art (museums and galleries). I am interested in the artistic or creative cultural intelligentsia of Wrocław. The painters, drawers, conceptual artists, artists in residence (what kind of art do foreign artists make in Poland, how do they interact with the Polish art scene and/or movements of Wrocław) new geometrical abstract or abstract expressionist art of contemporary Wrocław artists, Polish art photography from your city. I like photographers and photography, and I collect art photography and photo journalism books next to art books about painting and sculpture (In Arnhem and Amsterdam). Wrocław today has an international development and has global connections (international school, foreign students and etc.). Art has no physical or mental borders. Fine art is cosmopolitan, international and in the same time national due to the roots of the artist. You are a good example of that Pjotr Gardecki. You exhibited, worked and lived (/stayed) and took part in projects in Poland, Scotland, Germany and the Netherlands. Art if it is not audio-visual shows images or forms, content which is described not in words, but communicated by the artist with his or her unique handwiting, style, content, subject, material, technique, skills, talent, message and characteristics. Objectively you have the medium and space of the art subject which creates the bounderies of the piece of art, subjectively you have the individual mark of the artist in the work. It is recognisable as work of that particular artist. Cheers, Pieter * en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Avant-garde / pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Awangarda_(sztuka)

Understandable English from 3.31 minutes on. The first speaker is hard to understand. Ofcourse the Polish speakers amongst you, Tufta, Pjotr and Bonobo can understand the Polish beginning or start of the speeches/conversation. Pjotr you probably were there in the audiance, because you participated in this European Culture Congress in Wrocław. Pjotr I am glad you told me about this important cultural developments in your city, and that you participated in this cultural art philosophical and art theoretic debate, because this too is important for the art world, artists, and the entire art spectrum from art (project) development, the discussion about the meaning and value of art in our society and the place of fine art in our Post Modern world, artists, galleries, museums, curators, art critics, art journalists, art historians, art trade, the exchange of art (the transport and cumulation of art) and other art specialists.

I see the influence of Vincent van Gogh here. But that may be just my personal opinion. And it is if it is inspired a Gardecki interpretation and choice of composition. Because this composition I did not see before.

Yes, it is and I like the fact that he is going on. It's not so easy to survive in the art world, especially in Poland, but also in the Netherlands. Gardecki has exhibitions in Poland, the Netherlands, Scotland and I believe in Germany too. I would like if he could return to this Forum and tell us something about the cultural, artistic and thus creative developments in Wroclaw. Pjotr was active on the edge between the Corporate world (commercial world) and fine art. But he is and will stay a painter, drawer, and an artist who works with different media. What he told me via Facebook and e-mail abourt the development and dynamics in the Polish and Central-European art worlds was amazing. I think that Rumsfeld was right when he spoke about "The Old Europe" and the "New Europe". Central- and Eastern-Europe is the New Europe, with the cultural and economical development and progress in coungtries like Poland, the Czech republic, Hungary, Slovakia, Lithuania, Estonia and Latvia. Wroclow is an interesting city due to it's history (Breslau/Wroclaw), but also due to it's present and future. The European capital of Europe is nearby, in 2016 that South-Western Polish town will be the centre of attention of the art world in Europe. The preparations are under way.

Exhibition of Piotr Gardecki in The Hague, the NetherlandsThis is the latest exhibition of Piotr in the Netherlands. And it will be there until december. So chekc it out if you have a chance to visit the Netherlands. It was wonderful to be there, to meet Piotr again, yesterday. To see his drawings again, and to see that he continues to exhibit, and thus exist as an artist. That is important for an artist, to continue, and to keep having exhibitions. Small, large, big or extra large doesn't matter. What matters is the fact that the drawings, paintings or photographs (whatever the artists has made and shows to his audience) are exhibited, and that the artist can put the exhibition on his CV. I liked Piotr's exhibition, because it showed a lot of his graphical penicl drawings of Industrial, Arnhem Rhine river landscapes. And he had a map/file next to the drawings that hang on the walls. A Dutch visitor, who knows Piotr very well, called him a nomad. And that is a good element of Piotr, he works and creates things in his home city of Wrocław, but he also continues to travel and work abroad. His foreign exhibitions in the Netherlands, Germany and Scotland, Great-Britian (Edinburgh) through the years. The Polish flag is hung in The Hague, by one of the owners of Wijn & Kunst (Wine & Art) in the Weimarstreet in The Hague, where the exhibition of Piotr Gardecki is.Piotr Gardecki with Edwin van Velzen and Paul van der Donk, the owners of the wine store, Wijn & Kunst (Wine and art) in The Hague. The Norwegian guitarplayer was a very talented young man. I had a nice conversation with him about European classical music, Scandinavian music, world music and the importance of good music in general. His Norwegian girlfriend studies music in Copenhagen (Denmark) On the window are the Dutch words Wine & Art. A nice combination don't you think?

Hi Pieter,
Thanks for posting this update on Piotr Gardecki.
For some reason, probably because I was busy and distracted, I never read your original postings regarding Piotr...I enjoyed going back and reading all the postings on this thread!
Thanks, also, for infusing a little life in this forum!

Pjotr wants to exhibit in Poland again. He is painting in Poland and ask me if I could assist him in transporting some of his paintings (artworks) which are stil in the Netherlands. Next year Wroclaw will be the European capital of culture. I am sure that preparations are made and that they have a lot of work over there in organizing things. I don't know if Pjotr is involved in that organization next to his own work as an artist.
I am curious about his latest work and hope to visit his studio or an exhibition of his in Poland or the Netherlands in the near future.

And if you do go, be sure to give us your eyewitness account of the exhibition! Jeanne

I am by no means a student of art, but these two paintings seem to me to be reminiscent of van Gogh, or at least, they remind me of some of his work.
