Bonobo, I was waiting and waiting and nothing showed. Is it written in the 'sypmathetic ink' and I should use a candle's flame on the monitor to make it visible?

I must say I like Wprost's front pages very much. They are synthetic in thier very very unique way. I know some people object some of them as 'tasteless'. Indeed some of them are at least risky, or maybe - overly open ;D ;D ;D But '''''that's what our parents fought for'''''' - for the diversity and freedom in every possible aspect. Besides, the contents is usually less frivolous than the front page. Which is not to say I always agree with it! And you, dear forum members, what do you think about Wprost?

I have bee trying to find the most scandalous cover, the one about pollution, with Holy Mother wearing a a gas mask. The cover caused incredible uproar in early 90s. But you were too young to remember.... As for the contents of Wprost, I like it much less. The articles are written in the style of yellow press too often - either with ostentatious enthusiasm or blatant criticism.

I didn't find it scandalous - perhaps I am too young for that too ;D ;D ;D I agree (sic! sic! sic!) with you that some articles are too black and white in Wprost. But that seems to become a feature all press. They are all going the tabloid path, so to say. The mankind is growing simple! And Wprost at least sometimes has the guts to provocatievely name a problem other magazines tend to blurr. For instance the Regards for Putinochio action. If you still remember it at your age, of course! ;D ;D ;D

Yes I was too young, but I've seen the cover you mention. I didn't find it scandalous - perhaps I am too young for that too ;D ;D ;D Neither did I. I meant that it was considered scandalous by others, especially those radical Catholic parties. . But Wprost is considered a major player in the market of opinion magazines in Poland. It shouldn`t use this style. That is why I stopped buying it about 10 years ago and now I only buy the balanced Newsweek or, rarely, the leftist oriented Polityka. I do.

So if Wprost is considered a major player in the market opinion - that's enough reasons for us to read it, don't you think so? Your students probably read Wprost, that is what I mean. Besides - if you were a reader of Wprost you'd know from the last edtition for instance how to love Germany. And that in fact a lot of Poles already like it! ;D ;D ;D www.wprost.pl/ar/124734/Jak-pokochac-Niemcy/?I=1315

Moonshine vodka causes blindness! Funny since in Polish there's a very similar word to 'moonshine vodka' - księżycówka (księżyc is moon). There is a word 'krzakówka' as well - krzak is a bush. In English it wood be bush vodka. Not the best name nowadays. ;D ;D ;D However the Russian name their vodkas by the country leaders name...

I wonder if Poles would like to drink Walesa or Kaczyński Vodka? hahahaha We have celebrity alcohol and mineral water too. Not presidents, but priests: I think this stuff suits this humour thread very well. PS. Hey, why did they write on this German site that Gorbatschov vodka is aus Polen? www.ciao.de/Wodka_Gorbatschow_div_Spiri__Test_1345853

To me this guy is able to do everything for fame. He was in opposition in 80s because it brought him fame. When communism finished, he started doing other controvercial things to remain in the spotlight.

I was fascinated with this notice in one of Krakow`s pubs. In the toilet we spotted a notice in English, apparently stuck onto the wall for British tourists. It read: Don`t Pee Into the Sink! Show a Good Manners of Your Country! And below for some forgetful Poles: Nie załatwiać się do zlewu!

Using electronic translators produces laughable effects. A notice from Ireland, probably hanging in some construction company, with Polish text. m.onet.pl/_m/50e2f8232319f14f1045942c2170a62d,9,1.jpg Look at the original English text first. Its Polish translation sounds total gibberish. E.g.,: * Not cut off in while acting near height * *Not carrying suspiciously spying on protection. *Standing at the ladder not obliged or pedestrian

I don't understand this, does this mean they can't post signs correct? It means that some Irish boss realised he is poorly understood by his Polish workers. So he decided to change it. He used an electronic translator and that`s what he got. He didn`t know that such translators distort the translation a lot.

I don't understand this, does this mean they can't post signs correct? No, they can`t because they don`t know Polish and trust electronic translators too much, instead of asking a native Pole to proofread for them.

Restroom sign in a bar in Krakow I wonder if Bonobo will recognize it? ;D ;D ;D There are about 500 bars and pubs in Krakow. It is impossible to know all of them. It is another sign directed to British tourists. The one requesting guests not to piss into the sink/washbasin I have already presented here and there a few times.
