A young woman tried to commit a suicide jumping from the bridge onto a busy road below. Two policemen managed to capture her in the last moment. For a few dozen unnerving seconds she was hanging from the bridge while they were trying to pull her up. Finally they made it. www.tvn24.pl/-1,1553085,wiadomosc.html

Warsaw. Poland. A 3 year old boy put a chair next to the door, climbed it, unlocked and opened the door, left the house, got on a bus and went to Okęcie Airport to look at the planes. There he aroused the interest of passengers who called the police. Nicolai cooperated with the police and told them his address. The mother comments: I am at a loss. I am unable to predict his extravagant behaviour.

Children must be were you can see them at all times, or don't have them. Well, Mike, life is bigger than us. A quote from my favourite book: life is so twisted that man is nothing in comparison. The woman thought her son is at home and that was enough for her.

Whats in the news today? The Soccer Championship Euro 2012 in Poland and Ukraine is under threat. UEFA is disappointed with Ukraine, while Poland`s preparations have been rated as satisfactory nad giving hope. . However, if one of these two countries isn`t ready, Euro will be moved to Spain or Italy. What`s wrong with Ukrainian preparations? Zero progress in building roads, hotels, facilities and stadiums. www.tvn24.pl/-1,1554115,wiadomosc.html

www.tvn24.pl/-1,1555259,wiadomosc.html A man took the urn with the ashes of his deseased father, went 150 miles to the Polish seaside and threw them into the sea, fulfilling his father`s last will. During the first trial the man was accused of desecrating a dead body. However, he was acquitted since there wasn`t a body, just ashes. During the second trial the man was accused of improper burial. He shouldn`t have opened the urn because it is illegal. The man was fined 1000 zl, 500$.

Celine Dion - only if AC/DC was the opening act...2. 5th Air Show - Yes3. The Exhibition of Pure Breed Dogs. - Ha! Not for a cat lover! 4. Vintage Cars Show and Race. - Sounds cool, but I am guessing no (unless maybe it includes Fiats)?5. The Festival of Jewish Culture. A possibility, but I think it might be...6. The International Festival of Child Folklore Bands - Since you said 'we' I think you brought your children to this event!

We went to the 5th Air Show and I took nice photos as usual... We also went to the Vintage Car Parade in the Market Square and what I saw and the photos I took there dumbfunded me completely with their beauty.... You are right about Celine Dion - it is not my music. I would prefer to see Madonna...... Dogs smell, I have folklore dancing in my school, and the Jewish Festival is mostly music which I cannot bear for a longer time.... ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D that is why we didn`t go to any of those events... As for Celine Tearjerker in Krakow www.tvn24.pl/24467,1555452,0,1,wiadomosc.html

Are you one of those people from Cracow who have problems with Warsaw? It would be hard to believe, since you sound rational, but one can never know. Please do let me know as soon as possible so I know how to react Sincerely yours tu-f-ta

And it has nothing to do with my rationalism. Pure emotions! However, one of my traits is to play tricks on people I like. People!! Run for your mice!! I mean: Run for your lives!! Mice!!! Mice has caused a closure of Polish Deli in Chicago!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Mike, are you there? Mice force closure, put Polish deli in a pickle Chicago Sun-Times July 17, 2008
A popular Polish deli on the Southwest Side was closed Thursday after city health inspectors found something that wasn't on the menu --mice.
Mayor Daley's Dumpster Task Force closed Wladzia's Deli at 4348 W. 51st St. in the Archer Heights neighborhood due to problems related to a mice infestation, according to a release from the Department of Streets & Sanitation.
Inspectors visited the deli Thursday to check on customer complaints and found more than 180 mice droppings in the food prep area, including some on a wood chopping block, on shelving and in a cabinet where utensils are stored, the release said.
Wladzia's was cited for the critical violation of inadequate pest control and will not be permitted to reopen until the establishment is cleaned and the owners submit revamped programs for housekeeping and pest control, then request and pass a re-inspection, the release said.
"Management has been negligent in keeping their business safe and clean and it has led to their closure," Josie Cruz, deputy commissioner of Streets & Sanitation's Bureau of Rodent Control said in the release.
"If they want to be allowed to reopen, they will have to prove to us that they can keep their business clean and free of pests for the long haul,"Cruz said.180 mice droppings

Have you dropped your plastic shopping bags?? Dropped not because thye are heavy but harmful to environment..
More and more Poles take their reusable bags when going shopping. Thus they can recall communist times when reusable bags were a must....
Hey, in the film "Three Women" by Robert Altman that I saw in late 70s American women were carrying their shopping in paper bags. Are they still used today?
Poles take to reusable bags thenews.pl 16.07.2008
Months of intensive advertising by a vast array of environmentally- concerned organizations have yielded fruit has paid off as more and more Poles are sporting reusable bags on shopping errands.
Until recently, reusable bags were an uncommon sight on the streets of any Polish city, and only a handful of fashionistas were carrying their shopping in them. Now the trend has spread all over the country, regardless of age, sex, social status, etc.
Most companies have already introduced reusable bags into their accessories offers and readily give them away as freebies to promote their brand or sell at very reasonable prices.
The bags are also practical, holding up to 7.5 kilograms, and often very appealing, unlike the traditional plastic bags, which additionally need over 300 years to decompose.

Where I live, mostly plastic bags are still used. I admit most of the time I use them. But if they come from the grocery store, they can be taken back to the store to be recycled, which I always do. Many stores now, however, do have reusable bags for sale and they are starting to catch on. We also have the option of asking for paper bags (at the grocery stores only) and often I do ask for paper because I use them to put paper in for my curb-side recycling every other week. Personally, I wish they would do away with the paper altogether, as they end up hanging from trees and blowing into the river besides the problem of not degrading. Just a note along this line...When my daughter was married last summer, she had a 'barbecue' type reception with meat that was raised on the family farm. She did not want to deal with figuring out who would clean up afterwards if she had 'real dishes' and she certainly did not want paper/plastic plates because of the environmental issues, so she found a caterer who had compostible plates, cups and flatwear made of corn starch which were totally compostible! They looked just like heavy duty paper, and the forks/knives/spoons looked like plastic, but they weren't! The caterer gathered up everything in composting bins after the wedding reception and carted it off to be composted. Of course we did have to pay extra for this, but my daughter saved us so much money having such a low-key wedding that we didn't mind the expense to keep her happy and the environment healthy!

Flats in Sopot more expensive than Dubai
thenews.pl
04.07.2008
Apartments in Sopot, Poland's most fashionable Baltic sea resort, are more expensive than those in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
One square meter in a luxurious residence in Dubai, one of the richest and fastest developing cities in the world, costs some 11,000 zlotys, or around 3,300 euros.
In the popular coastal resort of Sopot, however, the price for a square meter fluctuates between 17,000 and 23,000 zlotys, reports the Radio Information Agency.
Like in other expensive cities in Poland – for example in Warsaw and other metropolitan areas –prices are inflated by the newest luxurious apartments which are springing up in many areas and are the prime area for growth in the housing market in Poland, at the expense of building more affordable homes for average income Poles.
The seaside city of Sopot has been a fashionable place to live in for several years now. New residents are attracted by the sea, surrounding forests and specific climate.
Sopot is also a place where many people – quite often the well-off from the capital city – buy second flats, which they use during holidays. The subsequent rise in the value of homes is pricing out locals from the area.
