It is a famous military choir from Russia. They gave concerts in Crimea which was forcefully taken from Ukraine by Russia. Therefore, some voices call for the boycott of their concerts in Poland, especially in Krakow.
However, those who come to gigs always have good time as apart from Russian war songs the choir also sings Polish songs and even tracks from Polish popular film soundtracks. Audiences clap and cheer when they hear those tunes.
Red Poppies (about Monte Cassino battle)
Song from comedy How I started II WW.
Hey, Falcons (Polish Ukrainian motifs)
Brunettes, Blondes

Not yet and I am not going. Nothing against them personally but tickets are too expensive. I can watch and listen on youtube. How about in the distant future...?? Their tour of Poland takes place every year and comprises major cities www.kupbilecik.pl/baza-269-chor.aleksandrowa.html Yes, it is a pity when tickets to cultural events are so expensive!!

Well, high culture must be costly, it is understandable that creators should be paid well. So, it only depends on how zealous a fan you are. If very zealous, you can spend 80$ on a ticket and feel happy. If less avid, the price is a bit disturbing in Poland. I belong to the other group in case of the Choir. I prefer to spend 80$ on new bushes and trees for my orchard.

I prefer to spend 80$ on new bushes and trees for my orchard. So would I...the enjoyment of the bushes and trees, both in their seasonal beauty and their annual fruits, is so much more long-lasting than the hour or two of listening to the choir perform, which, as you said can also be accomplished on youtube!

Yes, I've always known that you are a bit "fruity!" Are you familiar with that English colloquialism?

Yes, I've always known that you are a bit "fruity!" Are you familiar with that English colloquialism? Now I know! fruity "Fruity" has a precise meaning, but is difficult to define. Loosely speaking, the word refers to something which is cheerfully and perkily saccharine, naïve, generic, corny, banal, innocuous, un-self-consciously dippy, sexually neutered (or, conversely, having perverse subtexts), or just plain dumb - and is amusing because of it. Dorkiness which doesn't even know that it's dorky, but celebrates its own dorkiness anyway: that which is flamboyantly and happily retarded. Closely synonymous with gay, in the not-necessarily-homosexual sense. pl.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=fruity

I have never repeated it later on. We shouldn`t really concentrate on it here and now.

Enough said!...I don't think I'd want to know anyway. I was innocently trying to be humorous by tying the word to your mention of your orchard!!

Incredible loss for culture. I am so sorry. All 92 people on board a Russian military plane that crashed near Sochi have died, according to Russia's defence ministry. Several bodies have been recovered from the water after the jet crashed shortly after take-off. Wreckage and personal items recovered from the crash site Image Caption: Wreckage and personal items recovered from the crash site The plane was carrying 64 members of the renowned military choir and dance band, the Alexandrov Ensemble, including its conductor Valery Khalilov. This is horrible...I heard about the crash, which is tragic no matter who was on board, but to lose all that talent and a prominent part of culture makes it doubly tragic for the Russians!

My father has a long play record of this Red Army choir. Russian peoples music was in our family home next to Polish, Hungarian and French music.
