Bread symbolizes Christ`s body, the Bread of Life, brings welfare and prosperity.


Egg - a symbol of hope, new life and resurrection from the tomb. Sharing an egg during Sunday breakfast resembles sharing a wafer during Christmas Supper - a symbol of unity, friendship, love and kindness


Lamb - symbol of life`s victory over death


Meat - God’s generosity and favor which in result bring: health, abundance and fertility


Cheese - to remind moderation that Christians should have. Also - a symbol of human bond with nature, especially with farm animals.


Salt - purification and truth, scares off evil, reminds Christians the ‘salt of the earth’ – they should lead a good Christian life.


Cake - skills and abilities


Horseradish - reminds Christians about the passion of Christ, the vinegar in it symbolizes the sour wine given to Jesus on the cross. Also, a symbol of physical strength and stamina.


Butter- reminds Christians of the good will of Christ that we should also practise towards other people.


Sweets suggest the promise of eternal life or just pleasant things to happen.


Willow twigs and other greenery are a sign of joy and new life beginning



Linen or lace cloths for covers and bottoms- symbolize Christ’s burial shroud.
