Stirling residents were intrigued this week by the sight of a piece of street art on the side of a city gym in the style of Banksy.
The stencilled work, which closely resembles that of the superstar graffiti artist, appeared on the side of Pure Gym by the Craigs roundabout last week.
In keeping with Banksy’s satirical style, it shows a man being lifted out of shadowy figures by a woman floating above in a heart-shaped balloon.
Pure Gym Stirling assistant manager Neil Paterson told the Observer that staff were first aware of the art work on Thursday morning and thought it had been carried out overnight.
He said: “I’m no expert. I’d say it’s a good attempt, but it looks like somebody trying to mimic Banksy to me.
“The first time we noticed it was last Thursday morning. We’ve seen quite a few people take photos of it.
“It’s not everyday you get a Banksy on the side of your workplace, or even a copy of one.”
The Bristol street artist hit the headlines this month when his 2006 ‘Girl with Balloon’ painting self destructed just after being sold at auction for £1.04m.
The piece is now entitled ‘Love is in the Bin’ and experts believe its price will increase due to the partial shredding.
‘Girl with a Balloon’ came top of a poll carried out in 2017 to find the nation’s best-loved work of art ahead of more traditional favourites like Turner’s ‘The Fighting Temeraire’ and Constable’s ‘The Hay Wain.’
Chelsie Dysart, of Stirling-based art collective GOSSIP which supports art students and graduates in the Forth Valley, said this week the stencil with its black and white background with the use of a bold red heart – in an unexpected location – is typical of Banksy’s work.
Chelsie also said she found the addition to the gym’s frontage empowering. She commented: “Even on first glance, I get the message that this piece of street art is saying improve yourself, rise above the normal expectations of society.
“It’s inspirational in its message and boldness of being in such a public space, but that’s the beauty of street art.
“Symbolically, it’s as if it’s saying don’t follow the crowd, do your own thing and be who you want to be.”

Graffiti resembling the work of elusive artist Banksy has appeared on Israel’s security barrier in the West Bank city of Bethlehem.
It wasn’t immediately clear if the work found early on Friday was done by Banksy or a Banksy-wannabe. Souerce: www.timesofisrael.com/trump-graffiti-on-west-bank-barrier-mocks-his-love-of-walls/

Last year there were rumours in some media about Banksy being Polish. As for the art, it is certainly thought provoking and inspiring. I wonder if one day they will rip those pieces off the facades and sell them at auctions as such big chunks. Judging by one of his images, he doesn`t like Trump.

Last year there were rumours in some media about Banksy being Polish There's lots of rumours about him but I haven't heard that one. He comes from a city very close to me and I've seen lots of his artwork Did you hear how much one of his paintings recently sold for? www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-bristol-49924281I would have uploaded the painting from the net if only I knew how to do it!

I would have uploaded the painting from the net if only I knew how to do it! Copy the net address of the pic and paste it using the INSERT IMAGE button, the third one in the last group. Paste the copied address in the first row. Very simple.

Wow, I did it!!! Now I've just got to remember exactly what I did haha!!! That painting sold for 9.88 million pounds! Personally I think it's a great picture. Banksy obviously has a great sense of humour, the chimps are far more intelligent
