I tend to believe that one should maintain the character of the house. Everything inside this "new" version of the house is ultra-modern. A house can be improved/restored with more traditional trappings that go better with the original design. And, that does not mean they need to keep the outhouse, the outside well and the goat! My house is a traditional Cape Cod house. The people who lived here before us had kept the traditional look on the exterior, but they had tried to transform the interior (very UN-successfully)into an Italian Villa...trust me, it did not work well with the style of the house! I have tried to return to a tasteful respect of the original style of the house. 'Just my opinion!

Now that is an amazing transformation! And, the new style is in keeping with the original character of the house.
It just goes to show what one can accomplish with enough money...and that transformation must have cost A LOT!
I would really like to see what the exterior now looks like!! Any photos of that??

I would really like to see what the exterior now looks like!! Any photos of that?? Oops, I also posted the exterior photo but it got lost somehow. Here it is. Nothing special, just an ordinary wooden cottage after renovation, like thousands all over Poland.

I really like what they did with this cottage...the exterior as well reflects the original character of the house.
And by the way, I forgot to mention, I really like the blue tile stove!!

The negative ones claim the house`s climate has been destroyed, now it is a typical modern house like million similar other, there is really nothing traditional in it, despite architect`s assertions. I am afraid that I agree with this. It looks just like a new build house, and if that were the intention, it could have been built from scratch, no need to 'restore' an old cottage. Restoration should be in keeping with the original design in my opinion. What could they do with a traditional 100 year old cottage if they had money to burn? Ooh, I like this renovation! The bathroom is lovely, and in agreement with jeanne, that blue stove is really nice. I wouldn't mind living in that!!
