To all the new members, Please write and tell us something on you, like where you live, what kind of work you do, and what are your likes. We hope to get to know all of you better. It is not hard to post, and you can learn, and teach us. Michael Dabrowski I am a pro and proud of it. Let me tell you about something about my job which I do on the side. It starts in the afternoon because my clients are busy in the morning. I visit clients in their houses. Who can be my client? There is only one condition: they have to afford to have me. Apart from this, there are no restrictions. Anybody can have me. A typical gig lasts 45 minutes, rarely 60 minutes on client`s demand. We do it everywhere: in the bedroom, living room, even in the kitchen. My cllients are steady which makes the income regular. I won`t tell you how much I earn, but I can say it is a very decent pay in Poland. My services are not cheap as dirt in Poland and average people can` t afford me. I don`t accept dead presidents, only Polish dead kings. My clients are really satisfied with my services because I am patient and have an amiable attitude which creates a relaxing atmosphere during the gig, and clients appreciate it a lot. Most of them need a nice atmosphere to achieve good effects. My opinion on my clients differs. I like some and visit them with pleasure. Other clients are less entertaining, they can be really tiring and naughty, then I feel stressed. I don`t like to be stressed. But I always leave the stress behind me when I quit the place. One more thing which I dislike is carrying a full bag - really cumbersome. All in all, I like my job on the side a lot. It is satisfying and rewarding too.

It is interesting. Was your father deported to Siberia by bolsheviks and then he left the Soviet Union with general Anders` Army? What is your father`s story? Yes, teach your son to be proud of his Polish heritage. People who have knowledge of their background are definitely more interesting.

Franciszek, yes it happens in Poland a whole line of family has the first name the same or more often these are two names alternatievely. For instance if the grandfather is, for instance, Jan, the father must be, for instance, Franciszek ;D ;D ;D and his son Jan again, whose son must be Franciszek. Same goes for women too, of course. Another tradition is the son-daughter inherits dad's-mum's first name, as his-her second name.

Not to sure on the whole story he would not talk too much about the war in fact we did not talk a great deal we watched "THE WORLD AT WAR" television series now being shown on the history channel.I think this was his way of telling me about the war without him saying any thing if you understand? He didn`t want to recall the war? Yes, it was normal for Poles forced to fight in German uniforms to join the Polish Army after they were captured. Thousands of them did so. Polish Army had a special deal with the British - the latter closed an eye to POW joining Polish army and the procedure of transfer was reduced to minimum. Not so often but it does.

Getting great information from this forum downloading lots of polish history on ww2 for my son at the moment. I am compiling a folder for him all about Poland i will be his personal Polish teacher and the information i am gathering is invaluable.I had never heard of Wladyslaw Anders until yesterday so i looked him up on google sounds like a great man bit of a raw deal that the soviets denied him his Polish citizenship surely that was his birthright a travesty in my mind.My father fought in Italy and who knows could have served under him .Having great time with photos I have a cousin in Chicago who says Krakow is the most beautiful city in Europe

The youngest is autistic and you will probably hear me refer to Ty and his mom, (my dear daughter) Jessica (Jess) quite a lot. My fathers parents immigrated to the US when Grandpa was 5 and Grandma was 17. They met and married, the rest is history as they say! ******************** This is Good Friday; the day our Lord Jesus died for us. God Bless You All! Have a nice Easter! Mary

My bad on the name, I forgot the masculine name is masseur. Personally, I think this forum is great as it has a good mix of folk of Polish origin from all over the world and we can share so many things concerning our culture... As far as computers go, I spend all day working on them, configuring them, breaking them etc... So I come home and try to have fun on them! I'm glad you are sharing your pictures, I hope to share what little I have but most have little to do with Poland... My interest in reading mostly has to do with History and I have had this interest for many years, so I continue to hopefully gain as much knowledge as possible and hopefully some of this I can share. The biggest problem with metal detecting treasure hunting is finding good places as well as the time. If I hit the jackpot- I'll let you know but I think the odds are stacked againt me. Oh well, it's fun anyway!

Bonobo, I was just kidding about the masseuse gig. My bad on the name, I forgot the masculine name is masseur. It was a riddle that provoked certain amusing musings on my part ;D ;D ;D ;D Yes, the Polish culture is so multitiered..... It is like me. I make a living teaching English and I am also occupied with it at home, for pleasure. Am I crazy? ;D ;D ;D Are we? Don`t worry. I will help you to share more.... I can say the same about History. If I wasn`t an English teacher which I do for money (quite profitable in Poland nowadays), I would like to be a History teacher, for fun and satisfaction. I promise I will return to History board as soon as possible. Topics there require certain preparation that takes time which I have been short of recently as 3rd graders are leaving school and their final exams (O and A levels) are approaching etc etc. I can imagine the feeling. Similar to waiting for a fish to catch the bait.

Dzien dobry pajnstwo... Czesc, Alow me to introduce myself, Ryszard Sulima~Suligowski Fox (aka Rik Fox) from Los Angeles, California, USA. I am last of the Sulima-Suligowski bloodline in USA. Our family has had many famous members of Suligowski-Sulkowski, Polish history in it, and in Warsaw is ul. Suligowskiego, named for us. We share same 'Herby' of Zawisza Czarny, iand, Jozef Sulkowski (of Napoleon). I noticed that there was posting here in this group by someone about Polska Husaria, and this person used many, many images from my website, but they didn't give proper credit to my source from where they took my website images. It would be nice to receive such proper credit for it, in their nice article about Polska Husaria. Could you please make announcement of credit, from where you took my website images: (http://www.geocities.com/rik_fox/husaria (Without boasting), I was literally first person in USA to actively promote winged husaria to raise Polish historical awareness and culture. I created this before anyone else, in 1999. When I wanted to create this, others who were Polish, told me: "Don't make winged husaria in USA, it won't work, no one is interested, because in USA, it is not popular to be Polish, so you will fail". ten years later, we are very successful in creating winged husaria in USA (and followed by others). But it was very, very difficult road to make it successful about husaria in USA. There was almost no knowledge about husaria in USA, in 1998-9, and almost nothing on internet, until I put it there, and others began to take and use my internet images of husaria for their own websites. Our group called 'Pulk Suligowskiego' (Suligowski's Regiment), named in memory of my late Father, Leonard J. Suligowski, who helped create it. After I created it as first winged hussar in USA to be 'recognized' (by many Polish-American organizattions), and Warsaw reporter, Pan Robert Strybel, who recognized my efforts, for this, many other similar groups began to follow what we did and create their own groups. Now, in many places in USA, are several Polska Husaria groups, like ours, except they don't want recognize that I/our group, was 'first'. Lots of jealousy, and competetive feelings from them, and they said bad things about me and our group to anyone who listens about it. This is very sad, because we should work together, like 'Solidarnosc', but they refuse to be this way to me and our group. If you would like, I can tell small story of how I started being 'first' winged hussar in USA, and maybe you will be very interested to know about it. But that will be another time, because I ask about it now. In 2002, we made USA history in NYC Pulaski Day Parade, because it was 'first' time in USA history to ever see a winged hussar in any parade in America. We did it first, and some others were jealous that we did it before them. I also had 'great idea' to make a 'tour' to Poland to visit all places about husaria, and told it to a friend, who said 'nie, it won't be successful'. Now, this same friend, took my idea and makes successful husaria tours to Poland and participate in event: "Vivat Vasa", but refused to render proper credit, that it was first, 'my' idea to create such a tour. Many people there, in Poland don't know about these 'TRUE' facts because some others of husaria in USA, 'hide' the truth about my creations. They said: "We don't care who was first, it doesn't matter". But in reality, it DOES matter who created such a great thing first. Mostly, because I am 'American-born', not born in Poland. This is my 'passion' to educate others in USA about husaria. We would like the 'truth' about it all to be known to everyone in Poland, because it should be known that way as 'Truth', and not lies, because when a person makes a creation, they should receive deserved rewards for it, especially when it makes others happy about it and proud to be Polish. If you like to know more about us, please go here: www.husaria.us , and, www.foxywebdesigns.comThere is also a website about the Husaria Foundation in Warsaw, Poland, about us which I can post link later. There, you will see truths about us, and many other 'links' for our organization on 'youtube' including famous video made by Jan Polubinski of 2002 NYC Pulaski Parade. Dziekuje bardzo for your patience and compassion about my Suligowski family passion about husaria here, in USA. I only know a little about speaking Polish, so please be patient with me. Czesc, Rik (Sulima-Suligowski) Fox Founder, Suligowski's Regiment (of Sobieski's Command) Los Angeles, California, USA

Here is the text from the site. Rik Fox- Ryszard Suligowski- Zawisza Czarny’s relative and descendant, ex bass player of heavy metal groups like WASP, Steeler and others, dealt seriously with reconstruction/ staging of Polish gentry in 1998 and 1999. Letting alone gentry, almost immediately he began to consider reconstruction of husaria. In such a way, since 2000, in California Rik together with his friends have reconstructed Polish winged husaria in honor of husaria and Poland’s glory. Rik was the first one as no one before him ever did it in US. Some, disbelieving in any success, claimed: “…it’s not popular to be a Pole in U.S… so staging and creation of husaria won’t get interesting and will fail…”. Today, they are eaten up by jealousy as Rik with his group is a sensation of every show they perform, including Pulaski Day Parade in NYC. Their ride on Fifth Avenue is on youtube, under “winged hussar”. The ride and applause give great impression. To get involved in the Parade Rik flew over entire United States; in NY he rented a horse, just to realize his passion, and to spread the glory of husaria and Poland. Rik/ Ryszard, thanks to his passion and interest in popularization of history and knowledge about husaria and about Poland, have done a lot, more than anyone else. Pictures portray Rik, Tarrah and his friends.Hey, Rik, did you really play in WASP? I liked this group in 80s. Blackie was really crazy, their first album was banned in Poland. Till today I have their song Wanna Be Somebody included in my favourites` list. Were you with them then? PS. I have found this wiki entry on you. You are certainly a very interesting guy with multiple interests. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rik_Fox

You said: We are delighted to receive a visit of such a historical person here. Welcome. Rik: Thank you! Great to be here... You said: Yes, of course, we will add proper credit to your site. However, I looked through your site and saw only these images of hussars: here www.geocities.com/rik_fox/husaria/museum.htmland here: www.geocities.com/rik_fox/husaria/reference.htmlAre there any more but I can`t find them or that`s all?? I don`t want to miss anything. Rik: No, no...When I said this site, I was referring to "This" site--Polish forum site. Member jkutelski posted about Polish winged hussars in forum topic "Historia Magistra Vitae". He said "I have collected images of the winged hussars from the internet"...Yes, and many of them were from my website, but he didn't say it. There, he posted pictures from my website on geocities.com...but he didn't give proper source credit. He wouldn't have had access to those pictures, if I wasn't one of the first to do it many years ago. Maybe the moderator here, in this forum group, can contact this member, jketulski, and ask them to go back and 'ammend' their original post to correct ommissions of proper credit. That way, any other members here, can go see all the pictures in their proper context. You said: If you say so, it must be true. Thank you for spreading the knowledge about hussaria in US. Rik: Thank you, it is my 'life mission' to spread this information and history about husaria to America. Some call it a 'passion' to do so. Before it happened, I was researching about the husaria for many, many years...In 1999-2000, I was at San Diego California Museum of Art, to see the famous exhibit "Land of the Winged Horsemen/ Art in Poland"(Czartoryski museum collection)...I stood before the zbroja husarska (Hussar's armor) and the Turkish tent from Vienna...I experienced an 'epiphany' about it, and it was a very scarey moment. Very emotional, all hairs on my body stood up and I experienced a 'cold feeling' in my stomach. Eyes became water, and a voice in my head, I heard it: "I'm home...I'm back home..." At that moment, everything became very clear, that this is what I *MUST* do to introduce this part of Polish history to America. And it was very, very, very difficult, because nobody knew what I was talking about, and laughing at wings on back of armor...Many people thought it was 'Native American' Indian fantasy...I had a long road of education to teach people about this. Now, 10 years later, it is becoming popular, but many people don't really know the story of 'how' it all started in USA...Sadly, some other (American) Polish re-enactors became jealous, and competitive and say we don't care 'who was first', and deny me proper credit for starting this in America. You said: Yes, I remember this event, there was even a footage on Polish television with this famous scene: Rik: No, no, no...This is *not* from Polish television...It was made by private documenter, named Jan Polubinski, a family friend. If he didn't make this famous video of this historic event in USA, then it would be difficult to prove it happened. Why? Because ALL media in NYC, refuse to carry or promote *Anything* Polish...No newspapers, no television news, nothing. However, every *Other* ethnicity in NYC, receives Greater media exposure *Except* Polish. There is no *Positive* Polish media exposure allowed in NYC, unless it is a crime and the suspect has a Polish name...So, we WISH our hussar video on youtube was on Polish television, but it was made by Jan Polubinski. You said: Hey, Rik, did you really play in WASP? Rik: Yes, I did. I 'invented' the name WASP for the band, and the 'original' image of the look of the band, but received no credit for it whatsoever. Blackie refused to share anything with anyone. You said: I liked this group in 80s. Blackie was really crazy, their first album was banned in Poland. Rik: Wlasciewie...I believe it. If I could ever come to Poland, though, I hope the media would tell everyone about it..."Rock star/Hussar comes to Poland from USA"...like that, so then if anyone want's autograph, I thank you, and welcome all my fans in Poland! You said: Till today I have their song Wanna Be Somebody included in my favourites` list. Were you with them then? Rik: No. I was invited to California by Blackie, to audition for the band. Then I invented the name and suggested image of 'road warrior' to him. We recorded a demo tape and then he asked me to leave the band. He's insanely jealous. He hates the sound of my name, because I represent 'truth'. Truth of origin of WASP. Now it's public knowledge, and he knows his lies are exposed. Everything you want to know about my time in Rock History, is here: www.fibmusic.com/RikFox.html . I certainly was not in the band when they recorded offensive material that they became known for... I did a book-long 3-part interview, which receives about 40,000 'hits' per month there, and is one of the most popular music websites about this. I played in other bands too, and I would like to meet and give autographs to -all- my Polish fans! You said: PS. I have found this wiki entry on you. You are certainly a very interesting guy with multiple interests. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rik_FoxRik: Thank you, it's true. I guess fate decided that I am not to be an 'ordinary guy', but to be responsible for leaving something important, some important contribution behind me. It is very important that I raise Polish historic awareness and about history of the husaria. Not many people really know, the whole story of "how did it all began" in America about the husaria. It is what I *must* do. If I was given a talent for something important, then I must use it to help educate others about my Polish ancestry and the winged hussars of Poland. Thank you for letting me talk about it here... Now, if the moderator can contact jkutelski, and ask them to correct their original post and 'do the right thing'...put there, correct source credits to my geocities website... Dziekuje bardzo... Do zobaczenie...
