My brother in law is dominated by his wife who is a nasty bitch. She forbids him various things, e.g., take some food from the fridge or shelves, and when he disobeyed, she hit him and went totally crazy, hollering all around. Now the beatings have stopped because he learnt to give way to have peace and quiet at home, but I can see how unhappy he is. She still loves to punish him for his misdeeds, either by refusing sex or silent days.
He is thinking about divorce but they have two children, including a 1 month old baby, and he knows that she will do anything to seperate them from the father after the divorce. She is even able to accuse him of molesting their sons.
His life is really miserable because he has to give her all money he earns and she complains it is not enough though she gets 100 zlotys daily.
But nobody forced him to marry her. It was his own choice.

It sounds like his wife may be someone who has some mental health issues, certainly evidenced by her hitting him and getting mad over such trivial matters. No one's asking me my opionion, but I think he should try to get her some help.

It sounds like his wife may be someone who has some mental health issues, Well, that may be true because she secludes herself at home, doesn`t visit anyone and refuses to be visited. I saw her about two years ago. Yes, the triviality of matters over which she gets mad is shocking. She buys cookies and hides them in the cupboard and then lies to her husband she hasn`t got any. When he touches them, she starts hollering and calling him names. The funniest thing is the oldest son is picking some of her language and uses it on his mother. Maybe she will come to senses after hearing that a few times. Of course I am asking you about your opinion. That is why I am writing about it here. But sending her to a doctor is impossible. Which loony realizes he/she is crazy and agrees for therapy? ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Such behavior can be indicative of some type of mental disorder... This is very sad...and this is how the cycle of verbal/physical abuse continues in families. Children learn from what they see and hear. Maybe not...often times people with these issues know that they need help, desperately want help, but don't know how to go about finding it. Their persistence in this type of behavior may actually be a veiled cry for help. Ofter they are relieved when someone else takes the initiative to find help for them.

I think that besided the wife of your b-in-law treatment or soem help, your brother in law needs re-assurance, help and mental backing...

Yes, Tufta, you are right. I didn't mean to ignore the husband who does need much support in order to recognize this may be an illness, and to give him strength not to just walk out the door. Some prayer could help too.
