If you want to ignore a user in order not to see their posts, click a button in each user's profile, that, when clicked, will cause you to skip that user's post/pm/calendar entry. If you are ignoring someone, anoter button is put in their mini-profile which, when clicked, unignores them. Ignore button  Unignore button  Oh, man...I can't believe we need technology to help us ignore someone! Whatever happened to just not paying attention to them or not reading their posts?....come on, now!! ;D |

Oh, man...I can't believe we need technology to help us ignore someone! Therefore, modern technology is needed for the modern forum. That is true, Jeanne. But what I ment is that I can't imagin for instance going on with presenting my daughter's musical progress while in the next room pure hatred flourishes. On the other hand I don't really feel like telling anyone what to do, especiallly I will soon be silent for another month. So, don't take me too seriosly, nonetheless I felt I had to react somehow. Hope it makes some sense to you!  |

Now I imagine that you treated our forum as an asylum from the stressful lifestyle and worries of today. Wow, what a satisfaction!! Unfortunately, tufta, we are living in the world which is becoming very dense and crowded. You can`t get rid of annoying neighbours, they will stay next to you or even in the same house, but you can use modern technology to reduce their harmful influence. We understand your noble motives. Let`s wait a month then. |

I think perhaps I have developed a back like a duck...that is I'm able to let most things that annoy me simply run off of me like water off the back of a duck, especially things I have no control over. I hope it doesn't mean I've become hard-hearted! If that be the case, then at least I have Tufta to serve as a shining example of all that is good and true in mankind! The forum did have something special in itself, was self-personal, there was no flaming etc. etc. Now it's changing, you cannot deny it. You are going for quantity. the basic truth of life that nothing remains unchanged for too long? I don't think so, Bo. Besides, you'vre always have said you don't feel well in philsophy. But please note, that I have posted a lot of personal stuff into the forum which was semi-personal, no flaming etc. etc. I now feel uneasy with all that being there for all the hating people to see or comment. About 6 months ago you were opposed to closing the forum for unregistered members and persuaded me to open it wide for everybody. Now you are opposed to various freaks reading your comments which is in fact easy when the forum is open. Can you decide what you want? What is more, I cannot understand the argument about your inability to run a normal discourse in the forum while in certain single thread, bullshit and hate is propagated. How many posters do it? Is it a big group of people that the situation becomes unbearable? Do they permeate the whole forum with their hateful posts? No, it is just one person and one thread out of 1000. Besides, most replies in that thread suggest that hate is not accepted as a way of life by other members. So, who exaggerates? ;D ;D ;D ;D All this discourse doesn`t suit this purely informative technical thread on using ignore buttons, I think I will move it to another, you may suggest a title, if you want. Quality or quantity is good? And this is my last post in this discussion because I need to do other duties before we go on another trip. |
