Good point there gigi... Jeanne, Mike, there is always a way if you are really interested. As a last resort and you cannot get anywhere otherwise- I would consider hiring a professional genealogist. Jim

Jim Jim, Yes, someday I may get to the point of hiring someone, but that is still a way off. I don't have a lot of time to devote to my search right now, so it goes very slowly. (Add to that I also have a very old computer and dial-up!). But I am still trying different avenues and slowly I am making progress! And...you seem very knowledgeable, so in the future, when I know the right questions to ask you, I just might take advantage!

Thank you very much. I don't know if he is family, but I hope so. I still have many unanswered questions, from before my grandparents, and their family.
I will keep working on this until I have answers to everything, and it looks like it could take much time, I hope I have.
This is very hard to get any or all information on my family. I would love to know if I still have family in Poland, if I do, where they are, and who they are.
Also, If I have family living here, or other places, I would love to know more on them.
I am glad for any and all help anyone can give on this.

I think one of my great Uncles, Capt. Dabrowski, was in this, and was forced to take over, when his commanding officer flipped out. Does anyone know of this? His full name was Francszek Dabrowski, and his commanding officer was Henry Sucharski. Could this help. Thank you very much. I don't know if he is family, but I hope so. I still have many unanswered questions, from before my grandparents, and their family. This is very hard to get any or all information on my family. I would love to know if I still have family in Poland, if I do, where they are, and who they are. Mike, I must be missing something - can you please help me? In your previous statements you seem certain that Franciszek Dabrowski is your great uncle. How do you know this? If in fact you are certain that he is your great uncle, then I think these articles I found about Francis/Franz Dabrowski would be about your relative and if Elizabeth Hojka is his daughter, then she would be your cousin. Do you have the name(s) of your grandfather's brother(s)?

This is just something I was told over the years, and I don't have any records to make it fact, yet.
I hope he is so, I can find the missing link in my family.

Can anyone more, help me with my family link up? The only help I can provide is photos of Captain F. Dąbrowski from this site: www.westerplatte.org/glowna/index.php?kod=27Mike, does he bear a resemblance to you or anybody of your family?

Dear JCSM,
I have posted this information on other sites, and fallowed all instructions given me, and still nothing. I will keep working on this until I have answers, and have been working on this for several years, even with my own checks done in Poland. I won't give up. I am sorry if you think I am just wasting anyones time, but if it were you and I could help, I would.

Mike,
If you followed through & got the suggested US records, why are you not willing to share the information?

First off with who, and why?
I tried several times, and even had others work on this, and came up with nothing. So far.
Why are you on my case? I just want to know, even tried to find someone to do this work for a fee.

How long ago was this, I don't remember? I am sorry if this is the case, but what ever I got so far, has not help me with any information on my grandparents living in Poland, and if they have family still there, or Else where. Many people want to give me information on them living here in the U.S.A., and I would like before this.

Many people want to give me information on them living here in the U.S.A., and I would like before this. Mike Mike, I'm going to join in here to see if I can make one last attempt to help. I think you have highlighted the main problem with your research journey in your above post: "Many people want to give me information on them living here in the U.S.A., and I would like before this."
We all understand that you want to find information about your family in Poland, and you have been very fortunate to have found so many people in several different forums who have been trying to help you. The problem is that you have a lot of useful data, but you haven't put together all of the pieces yet. You really need to start with the data on your family in the U.S. and then work your way back to Poland. The majority of us have to do it that way, so you are in abundant company! I realize that this is not what you want to hear, but perhaps if you think of this process as an investigation and treat it as such, you will successfully reach your goal of finding out more about your family in Poland. You probably have more information than you think, and you have several other avenues yet to explore (U.S. records, FHC films, etc.). I would suggest that instead of continuing to post requests in online forums, find a live, local person who can help you to get your known data organized and outline a process for future research. You are certainly not the only person in Indiana who is researching their Polish roots. Find someone local who is an experienced researcher and follow their lead. I would suggest that you go to your local Family History Center and find out if they have any suggestions for local research support: FHC Valparaiso Indiana 503 Burlington Beach Rd Valparaiso, Porter, Indiana, United States Phone: 219-476-7641 Hours: T,Th 10am-1pm, W 1pm-4pm, 6pm-9pm Good luck! Gigi

Hi,
What is FHC, since this address, I think is a home, not a business? I will check out the address, and give them a call, later. Thank you for your help, and I hope this works, I will let you all know.

I did check out the address, that is close to my home, and it is a church, so I will call them and see what comes from this, and will let you all know what comes of this. Thank for all your help.

Mike Most FHC (Family History Center) locations are in churches, since they are run by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I have been to my local FHC many times to order and view microfilms. The people who work there are probably not experienced genealogists, but they may be able to help you find someone local who is experienced with the process.

Would you please post some photo's and information on both Broszka, Poland and Piotrowice, Poland? These are the places my grandparents came from. Do you know how I may get any and all information. I have been searching for years, without any luck. Is there a place I can E-mail for information in Poland? Do you know of a service in Poland, who can help with my search? Mike Mike, I relocated your post here so that we can have it in the genealogy topic. I am not sure if you tried looking for Piotrowice in the database that I posted last October: www.fallingrain.com/world/PL/a/P/i/o/Looks as though there are several possibilities. You can click on one, which will take you to a map page. Once there, try clicking on the google links for more information. Here is some info about one Piotrowice that is not too far from Warsaw: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Piotrowice,_Otwock_County I could not find a Broszka. Could it possibly be Broszki or Broszków? I think Broszków is not too far from Warsaw? www.fallingrain.com/world/PL/a/B/r/o/s/Hope this helps!

Does anyone know who I can reach for copies of records in both villages?
Who keeps the records, births, weddings, and so, for this area? How do I reach them?
Thank you all for helping me with my many questions, I have not been able to find anything myself. I guess, I don't know how, and many times, I come up against a site in Polish, that I can't read.
If any one, has any ideas, please send them on.
Mike
