We have people around here that go swimming in the ocean this time of year, too.
At least the people in these pictures seem to have a religious reason for doing so. I can't figure out why anyone would want to do it... It's not "my cup of tea," as the expression goes!

I am sorry, I didn`t provide the full info as I wasn`t sure if it was an interesting topic. They celebrate the Feast of Jordan, in honour of Christian baptism rituals.

Oh, that explains it, but I'm sure the weather was not like the photos when John the Baptist was baptizing in the Jordan River!! (Nor would the women have had on bikinis! )

Yes, a bit unusual they do it in winter time. Tradition!!! I'm sure they do it in the winter time because the Baptism of the Lord is celebrated shortly after Christmas and that is the event they are commemorating!
