Jewish contribution into Polish culture is astounding. A few famous Polish writers or poets who were of Jewish origin created their masterpieces in Polish:
Tuwim
Julian Tuwim (Polish: Julian Tuwim; September 13, 1894 – December 27, 1953) (the surname comes from the Hebrew "טובים", "tovim", "good"), known also under the pseudonym "Oldlen" when writing song lyrics,[1] was a Polish poet of Jewish parents, born in £ód¼, Congress Poland (then, part of the Russian Empire). In 1919 Tuwim co-founded the Skamander group of experimental poets with Antoni S³onimski and Jaros³aw Iwaszkiewicz. He was a major figure in Polish literature, known especially for his contribution to children's literature. He was the recipient of a prestigious Golden Laurel of the Polish Academy of Literature in 1935
Le¶mian
Boles³aw Le¶mian (Boles³aw Lesman; 1877[1] – 1937) was a Polish poet, artist and member of the Polish Academy of Literature. He was one of the most influential poets of the early 20th century in Poland, one of the best poets of 20th century and cousin of another notable poet of the epoch - Jan Brzechwa and a nephew of famous poet and writer of Young Poland - Antoni Lange.
Brzechwa
Jan Brzechwa (Polish pronunciation: [ˈbʐɛxfa]), (¯merynka, Podolia, 15 August 1898 – 2 July 1966, Warsaw, Poland) was a Polish poet and author, known mostly for his contribution to children's literature. He was born Jan Wiktor Lesman to a Polish family of Jewish descent.[1]
Some people say that even Adam Mickiewicz, the greatest Polish poet, was partly Jewish.
