I have never thought that pigs could be elegant. This one is. What I knew and know is that they are very intelligent and vulnerable beings. Their free brothers and sisters the Wild boar have a better life though in the woods.

Yes, Pete. If I had a country house, I would buy Blondie from Sokó³ka and keep her (him?) in the back garden in a clean cabin, like a pet. On sunny days we would go for walks in the forest...... I think I could even kiss her on the wet snout, like I do to my cats and mice.

Animal lovers bought the pig out for 2000 zlotys(800 $) and took it to their shelter.
Farmers after learning about the price (4 times higher than average) started preparing their pigs for the big escape.

Dog rescued from Poland's highest peak

Hikers have rescued an abandoned dog from the summit of Mount Rysy, the highest point on the Polish side of the Tatra Mountains.
The frightened animal was spotted some 2,499 metres above sea level on the rocky peak.
According to one of the rescuers, there is no way that the dog could have conquered the summit under its own steam.
A hiker identified only as Krystian told the TVN 24 news channel that much of the peak was iced up and besides, the dog had very short legs and would not have been able to negotiate the chained path to the top alone.
Apparently, the rescuers first tried to take the dog down in a backpack, but the animal would not stop moving.
At great risk to themselves, the men then carried the dog by hand down the chained path that runs along the uppermost section of the peak.
Anna Płaszczyk from the Viva! Foundation for animal protection is planning to notify public prosecutors about a possible crime. (nh)
