My favourite sights in Poland, subjective selection

What do I like most in Poland ?

I admire buildings with tall slim towers,

e.g.,

Town Hall in Gdańsk


Cathedral in Krakow


Town Hall in Krakow




but not the Palace of Culture in Warsaw.

There are so many beautiful landmarks in Poland that I would have trouble deciding which are my favorites. Plus, I keep seeing more and more when perusing the photos on this forum.

I love narrow colourful tenement houses in Polish Old Towns

e.g.,:
Warsaw


Gdańsk


Legnica


Poznań


Nysa


I don`t like those wide massive ones

I like both the narrow and the wide buildings. Each are beautiful in their own way!

Yes, but the beauty is in the eye etc My beholder`s eye doesn`t accept wide constructions as they are too overwhelming. I virtually cannot breathe in their presence.

What`s next?

I, a dweller of southern Poland`s hilly region (verging on highest mountains in Poland), always experience a mental climax whenever I see the Polish sea with the golden beach strip.











It is obvious I hate strips which are not golden...

Growing up, I spent 10 years (from ages 10 to 20)in a sea-side town, so I too, love the ocean. Since we lived there year-round, we could often find times when the beaches were empty of people...and we learned when to avoid mob scenes like the one shown above!

Luckily, now I live only about 15 miles from the ocean, so it is very accessible whenever I get the urge to be near the water.

Lucky you. Here, only hills and mountains. Even my farm is located on a hill.

It is not so easy. It is too big to take a few small photos. I must prepare a panoramic photo with a sliding view around.

It is a shame to say but I also like colourful housing estates consisting mostly of prebab houses. I still remember drab grey blocks of old communist era









that is why I appreciate vivid colours of capitalist era so much. They obviously boost my mood, no more depression, that`s what I was fighting for as a young man.

I like richly decorated facades of old buildings, especially tenement houses in cities:

But when they are too fancy, I am doubtful.
