Let`s start with booooze. Popular myth says Poles are confirmed vodka drinkers. Wrong! Vodka consumption (and production) has been steadily decreasing. I still remember reading communist publications which boasted of the fact that Poland was a leading producer and consumer of potatoes in the world. I realised how pathetic it was then.

Unfortunately fruit and vegetables are on the decline and will stay that way, the bank specialists say.
The changes are mostly an outcome of the society becoming richer, and the growing popularity of dining out.

According to the Central Statistical Office, at the same time the consumption of wine and mead fell to 6.1 l per person from 8.6 litres. The consumption of beer per person increased.
While in 2015 the average Pole drank 80.7 litres of beer annually, in 2017 down from 98.5 litres per person.
According to the Central Statistical Office, since 2005, the number of cigarettes smoked by Poles has fallen from 1,974 units per person to 1,345 units in 2017.
Egg-cellent data?
The data also shows that Poles eat fewer eggs. Their consumption decreased per person from 215 to 139 eggs.
The consumption of fruit and vegetables is also down. In 2015, the average Pole ate 110 kg of vegetables and 54.1 kg of fruit annually. This consumption fell in 2017 to 105 kg and 53 kg, respectively.
