I used to eat apples as a child, especially those picked from trees while playing in orchards in vacation. Later I stopped and prefered other fruit, mostly exotic, for dozens of years.
Last year Putin introduced embargo on Polish fruit in retaliation for European sanctions on Russia. Eating apples (Poland is the biggest producer of apples in Europe) became a patriotic duty - Eat Polish apples against Putin! As usual, Poles reacted in the predictable way. The campaign became known not only in Poland but also in the world.
Yay, Poles! Eat those apples, and show them what you are made of!!
So, when Polish apples became famous, I decided to take a closer look. I tried one or two. Wow! Not bad. Juicy and sweet, but most important in my case, crunchy! I love everything what makes noise in my mouth.
Now I take 2,3 apples in my packed lunch to work. Every week we buy about 5 kilos of apples because my kids like them too.
Thank you Mr Putin for an apple a day......
Situation got out of control - they eat apples in Poland.
Ha, ha, ha!! I love how it back-fired on the Russians!
It backfired in the sense that prices of fruit like apples in Russia have doubled. Russians should be pitied, it is not their fault, really, they are only brainwashed by state`s propaganda.
I was in no way referring to the Russian people...by "Russians" I meant their leaders!! I guess I need to be clearer in writing my comments! I'm sure the Russian people become as frustrated with their leaders as we do with ours!...it's human nature!
