Most foreigners associate Polish sounds with: -steam making its way out of a boiling kettle. -the stronger wind among the trees. -the sound of skates sliding on ice -leaves rustling, with all the shh sounds. -noise between radio stations when you tune up -a room full of people arguing via "the shush", as if everyone simultaneously wanted the others to be quiet.
Yes, there are many "szeleszczące" (rustling) sounds in Polish.
A funny presentation of a famous rustling poem, with English subtitles and a small course on Polish sounds
Americans try to say names of Polish cities
Wow, in comments below the films I found another rustling twister.

I really, really, really wish I could speak Polish... But... what for? For the same reason someone takes musical instrument lessons, or painting lessons...to expand my intellectual horizons!

But... what for? For the same reason someone takes musical instrument lessons, or painting lessons...to expand my intellectual horizons! Polish as a means of expanding intellectual horizons? Jeanne, are you seriously planning to become another Einstein? Polish is the second hardest language to learn after Chinese.

What do you have against Einstein??? Why shouldn't I want to be another Einstein?? I have nothing against Einstein but I just want to spare you suffering. Some of my students say that the learning process is painful for them and they mean real physical pain in their brains. Do you want it??

Some of my students say that the learning process is painful for them and they mean real physical pain in their brains. Do you want it?? No pain, no gain! I'm at the point in my life where I must exercise my brain to keep it healthy! Another saying: Use it or lose it!!
