I use history to remember my numbers. E.g., my mobile phone number which I have had for years contains the full year of the Battle at Grunwald and the year of another famous battle with the Teutonic Knights but without one digit. My previous credit card PIN number was 9924. I associated 99 with a s-f series which was shown on Polish communist TV in late 1970s - Space 1999. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Space:_199924 was from 1924 - the year when Lenin died. My current card number is 3037. Ooops, again Bolshevik history comes to mind. In 1930 Stalin ordered his henchmen to quicken the destruction of private agriculture in the USSR while in 1937 he ordered the Great Purge after which millions were persecuted - executed or deported to Gulag camps. My debit card number is 2121. Very easy - 1921 was the year when Poland signed a Treaty which ended the Polish Bolshevik War. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peace_of_RigaIt seems I must thank Teutonic Knights and Bolsheviks for good memory. Thanks a lot!

I can't believe you are giving your PIN numbers on the internet. How do you know I won't hack your accounts?

Only decent people visit this place. Besides, I must tell you sth - I have been under special protection since my birth.

Like my area where I live. Not royalty, but born in the communist militia hospital in Krakow. ha!

So your father was a member of the Milicja Obywatelska Bo? How come you are anti-communist and a Solidarność supporter and a pious Roman-Catholic?
I use old adresses to remember my personal numbers. No one knows where I lived before or very few people. And no one knows the combinations I use.

And no one knows the combinations I use. 1 Why father and not mother? Or uncle? Besides, parents` political choice can be rejected by children. A lot of such cases in Poland. No, when vacant beds occured, the hospital also admitted average residents not connected with communist militia. I suppose you had to pay some extra money or even a bribe, because the Interior Ministry hospital was better equipped and staffed than civilian ones at the time. 2 Do you have enough old addresses to cover all your numbers???

Statistically you don't need to try them all. Your reasoning for selecting a number has zero impact on it's security. I could write a script that would cycle through all of them in about a second. What does matter is if the device I'm trying to crack will lock me out after some number of failed attempts. Most don't. Interesting they don`t reject you after first futile attempt.

I use the birth dates of friends. Wow, I only remember my wife`s, kids and sisters` dates. PS. Sometimes I have a problem with recalling the proper order of my historical dates PINs. Which goes first - the battle at Grunwald or the battle at Waterloo?

Well, since you have more than just a couple of kids, their dates along with your wife's and sisters' should almost cover it! You can use duplicate PINS for some things, can't you? I simply don't believe that about you...

I simply don't believe that about you... Which part of my remark exactly? I think I may have misinterpreted your comment. At first glance I thought you meant that you were having trouble remembering the historical order of those events, which was affecting your ability to remember the order of your PINs. Sorry...I guess I assumed that the order in your PINs would be the same as historical order 'cause that's how I would do it to make sure I would remember the PIN. That's why I said I couldn't believe that about you, because I didn't believe you would forget which came first in history, the battle at Grunwald or the battle at Waterloo!!

You misinterpreted nothing. I do forget the order! But now I will follow your advice about the chronology. Good idea, I didn`t think about it earlier. I am serious.

Easy registration plate to remember 850 - the year when coffee is discovered (according to legend) by the Ethiopian goatherder Kaldi in East Africa, who notices that his goats become energetic after chewing the red berries from certain wild bushes (approximate date). I read about it in one of my fav books: In Ethiopia with Mr BieganekTV - obvious.

Of course, one of the lost civilizations did invent it - the one which depicted astronauts on their artifacts. I'll be convinced when I see an image on artifacts of people gathered around their TVs watching their favorite sports team or the weather forecast.
