A 10 year old boy in Stalowa Wola brought a pistol to school. The gun was a pre-war Polish-produced model, a bit rusty, but working. The pupil showed it to his mates at school but the teacher intervened and grabbed the weapon to hand it in to the police. The boy claims he found the gun while playing near his house. What did he want to do with it at school? A headmaster of a high school in Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski has been text messaging a female student, inviting her to his house. After the girl revealed the messages to a TV station, other girls, supported by their parents, started telling their stories of the headmaster making ambiguous offers. Journalists who investigate the case have messages and even recordings of the headmaster giving the girl instructions on the phone. The headmaster denied and took a leave. The worst thing is that the local authorities are trying to cover him. They don`t see any problem. Also teachers in the school are against the girl who blew the whistle. She gave up going to school for a while. www.tvn24.pl/-1,1541127,wiadomosc.html

I would say something else hit me in this story. Obviously irresponsible and not exactly wise guy has gotten a great present from God or fate- whatever one believes - a light, quick, almost pleasant death...

Are you tired of Warsaw?? remember, when you are tired of Warsaw, you are tired of life. hahahaha I am not tired of life, on the opposite. And I wouldn't change life in Warszawa for anything else. That is - in the long run ;D ;D ;D But I am slowly realizing life will come to an end. Did you realize that already? And death IS a present just as birth is a present. At least for me - a believer.

I would say something else hit me in this story. Obviously irresponsible and not exactly wise guy has gotten a great present from God or fate- whatever one believes - a light, quick, almost pleasant death... This time, again, one guy got a present, while the other, quite the opposite, a perpetual nightmare. 3 men were driving and drinking inside the car. The police noticed them and the wild chase started through the streets of a small town. Drunk driver wrongly measured his abilities and landed on a street lamp post. The front seat passenger died on the spot, it was the driver`s son. I wonder how the man is feeling now. Does he accuse the whole world, blaming everybody exept for himself? Or has he understood that the sole blame lies on him? www.tvn24.pl/-1,1543340,wiadomosc.html

Horrifying news from Britain! Immigrants catch and eat British swans! At first, the British believed they were Poles. What an unjustified suspicion!! Poles don`t eat swans!! Immigrant caught cooking swan surrounded by the bodies of slaughtered birds!!!! www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/news/news.html?in_article_id=527528&in_page_id=1770 When David Gibson stumbled upon the disturbing scene he could scarcely believe his eyes. In a squalid makeshift campsite by a north London waterway, a man was cooking his evening meal - surrounded by the bodies of slaughtered swans. Mr Gibson did not need to look in the pot to know what it contained: the piles of feathers and stripped carcasses were evidence enough. He said he found two young Polish men living in another tent nearby. They told him: "We don't eat the swans. We just stay here at night and we work during the day." The authorities he alerted did not turn up until the next day. Mr Gibson said: "By the time they came down the bloke had gone. He must have thrown the carcasses away. The scene was visited later by Kevin Garten, a volunteer from Shepperton Swan Sanctuary. He said: "Those carcasses were not stripped by animals. I know what foxes do. These were meticulously stripped and the head and neck were still attached - a fox would have had it straight off. "I cannot definitely say it was human but I can definitely say it was no animal." When Daily Mail sister paper Evening Standard visited the park yesterday, we found a tent surrounded by rubbish, including discarded bottles, old shoes and a Romanian bible.

When I try, it said, web site can not be found. That`s the peculiarity of news portals. The addresses of news items are only partly highlit when you see them on the screen. That is why you need to copy the whole address and paste it into address slot. Only then you will be connected.

Monks warn shrine visitors to 'beware of crooks' Total Catholic, UK Wednesday, 09 July 2008
Catholic monks at Poland's national Jasna Gora sanctuary have cautioned visitors to beware of "crooks and swindlers" during the upcoming summer pilgrimage season.
"It's a very sad phenomenon - but unfortunately not unique in the world," said Fr Sebastian Matecki, sub-prior of the hilltop monastery. "We can see certain individuals want to make money dishonestly out of sacred places like this. Such people aren't working for the good of our cloister, and we feel obliged to draw attention to this."
The Pauline order priest issued the warning as Catholic parishes and movements around Poland prepared for annual mass pilgrimages to Jasna Gora, whose revered Black Madonna icon was painted, according to legend, by St Luke on a plank from Christ's family home at Nazareth.
He said his order had put posters at the gates of the six centuries- old shrine, urging Catholics not to buy fake entrance tickets or religious objects allegedly being sold for the benefit of the shrine in local car parks.
"These traders have nothing to do with Jasna Gora," Fr Maecki told the Catholic information agency, KAI. "This is sacred place, marked off and consecrated in a special way by the presence of Christ and Mary and the prayers of the faithful. Holiness really belongs here, and should be expressed in dignified conduct."
At least a third of Poland's 10,000 Catholic parishes organise summer pilgrimages to Jasna Gora, which converge for the August 15 Assumption Day and August 26 Feast of Our Lady of Czestochowa. More than 100,000 Catholics traditionally arrive on foot, with the longest route, 480 miles, stretching from Szczecin in the northeast.
In his KAI statement, Fr Matecki said notices were also displayed reminding pilgrims to "dress and behave appropriately" , as well as switching off mobile telephones on entering the shrine, which has been run by Pauline order monks since the 14th century.

I can read that not only Poland is plagued by scrap metal collectors who recently stole a mile of copper cables from railway tracks causing a few hour long delays for thousands of commuters. Renowned sculptor's works ruined by copper theft August 16, 2008
EASTON, Conn. (AP) _ A sculptor who came to the United States in the 1960s from Poland for artistic freedom is trying to repair some of his best pieces after they were destroyed by one or more copper thieves.
Lubomir Tomaszewski, 85, whose work is displayed in museums and private collections around the world, said someone stole about 200 pounds of copper from several outdoor sculptures on his property.
"It resulted in very big damage to my lifetime of achievement, " said Tomaszewski, who came to the U.S. in 1966 from Communist-era Poland to pursue his career in industrial art.
Police are investigating the theft. It occurred in the early morning hours of July 27 in Tomaszewski' s yard at the end of a remote, dead-end street in his Fairfield County hometown.
The thief or thieves knocked down seven large sculptures and several smaller pieces, then broke off the copper pieces to steal _ mostly heads, arms and hands on human figures.
Authorities have reported a spike in copper and aluminum thefts nationwide as the prices of the metals have jumped.
In Tomaszewski' s case, the copper thefts damaged several of the sculptures beyond repair and ruined his chances of selling the works, which ranged from about $25,000 to about $175,000.
One sculpture, "Dancer with a Tambourine," was reduced to a stone on a metal shaft, while a big piece of wood was all that remained of "Orpheus."
"It's very tough, a very sad thing. I pulled what I had left away from the street and up closer to my house," he said. "They were some of my best pieces collected over many years."
He visited junkyards nearby, he said, but the owners said the thief probably sold the copper to junkyards in New York, where it would be hard to trace.
Tomaszewski, who attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, taught industrial design at the University of Bridgeport after leaving Poland. He retired in 1993.
Easton police have put out a public call for tips to help solve the crime, which its police chief says is the largest of its type in their town in recent memory.

A Polish train at Sosnowiec's railway station
WARSAW (AFP) — Several passenger trains came to a grinding halt in Poland Monday after thieves stole overhead steel electric cables, the country's PKP state railways spokesman Miroslaw Siemieniec confirmed.
Two separate railway lines in the south west, connecting Wroclaw with Opole and another to Klodzko, were paralysed by the theft of around 400 meters (437 yards) of electric cable powering the trains, Siemieniec said.
"The PKP has arranged alternative regional passenger transport, while long-distance trains have been diverted to other lines," Siemieniec said, quoted by the PAP news agency.
The incident is not isolated. Polish railways have seen more than two million zloty in losses (610,000 euros, 988,700 dollars) in recent years as thieves have made off with electric cables and other assets.

The big burning will take place tomorrow on Tuesday. Everybody may come. Smoking, yes. Inhaling, no. Hahahahaha! ;D Hey bud, let's party!!! ;D ;D ;D Okay, now that I have that classic line out of my system I can move on to the serious stuff. I saw some info about the effort to legalize marijuana in Poland: According to Polish Radio, a campaign to loosen the marijuana laws is underway in Poland. A petition to the Ministry of Justice requesting the legalization of marijuana for personal use has already been signed by hundreds of people, including drug rehab specialists and members of Monar, a nonprofit group that works with addicts, the HIV/AIDS positive, and the homeless. Now, would-be legalizers are trying a new tack: direct contact with members of parliament (MPs). "Cannabis canvassers" recruited via the Internet have been paying visits to politicians in an effort to win them over, and it seems to be working. The canvassers have already collected the signatures of five MPs, including former health minister Marek Balicki. Legalization of personal possession (or decriminalization) would be a step forward for Poland. Under current law, possession of even small amounts of marijuana is a serious criminal offense.
