No one ever told me to stop drinking, it was something, I did on my own. I did not need it to be happy any more, now life makes me happy, along with my grandchildren, and children, and wife, and family, and friends. I don't need more.

Do you take Viagra? If you do, be careful. Fortunately, I don`t.
Fake viagra gang facing stiff sentences? 10.06.2011 Police in Poland have arrested a gang that has been selling fake viagra pills on the internet.
Twelve people have been arrested thus far in the operation, with suspects detained in the cities of Warsaw, Szczecin and Katowice.
The counterfeit drugs have been sold over the internet by the gang since 2007. The network had snapped up web domains in countries as far-flung as Malaysia.
It is believed that over 10,000 Poles purchased the pills.
Prices for the drugs were some three times lower than they would have been by prescription.
However, far from adding new zip to the love lives of the buyers, the tablets proved to be something of a flop.
Police have cited that the supposedly libido-enhancing pills were made from such pedestrian substances as carbon and plaster.
The gang – which is also accused of money laundering - appears to have amassed a considerable fortune with its activities.
According to CBS officers, the group had several bank accounts, with a combined sum of 7 million zloty (1.8 million euros).

Police draw up Krakow bomb suspects 18.07.2011 12:41 Police in the southern city of Krakow have published facial composites of a man suspected of planting a home-made bomb at a house in a residential district of the city on Sunday.
Facial composites of the Krakow bomb suspect. Photo: policja.pl
The device, which was concealed in a plastic pipe, exploded, injuring a 65-year-old man who was taken to hospital with leg wounds.
This was the fourth explosion in recent days in Krakow. An earlier blast of a booby trap planted at the door to an apartment injured two people. At the end of June, three people were also hurt in two explosions.
Police spokesman Mariusz Sokolowski has announced that a special task force is investigating the bombings, as the victims of the attacks had not been accidental.
“One of the versions we have adopted is that this is some sort of squaring of accounts between the perpetrator and his victims,” he said, adding that “of course, we have several versions that are being investigated.”
Two pictures have been published, based on reports from two sources, say police. One of the men is described as 25-30 years old, about 180 cms in height. The other is 45-50 years old, about 185-190 cms tall. Both are described as thick-set and having dark complexions and thick noses.
Police are also reviewing footage from CCTV monitoring. Before the bombings, Krakow residents had been plagued by an arsonist setting fire to cars and garages.

This is the case that has been on the news for several weeks now. Baby Magda's death 'consistent with mother's testimony' 07.02.2012 08:35 Injuries sustained by six month-old Magda are consistent with the testimony of her mother, say prosecutors in southern Poland in a case which has gripped the country over the last two weeks.
“There is no reason to challenge the version introduced by the suspect,” Marta Zawada-Dybek from the state prosecutor's office in Katowice said Monday in a case which has seen comparisons in the media with the disappearance of the British girl Madeleine McCann four years ago.
The suspect, 22 year-old Katarzyna W., maintains that she dropped the baby girl on the floor at her home on 24 January, when Magda hit her head and died.
The mother then took the body and put it near a riverbank.
The case hit the headlines after the mother originally claimed that Magda had been kidnapped by an unknown assailant, triggering a huge manhunt by police in southern Poland.
It was only last Thursday, however, that Katarzyna W. confessed by a high-profile private detective in Poland, Krzysztof Rutkiewicz, that there was in fact no kidnapping and that Magda had died from an accident at home.
Prosecutor Marta Zawada-Dybek says that the final version of events will emerge in the coming days after forensic reports and the taking of more witness statements.
The woman is currently under arrest under involuntary manslaughter charges.
Meanwhile, a letter released by the mother's lawyer, Marcin Szymonek says that “Katarzyna W. is innocent. The child died from an accident which was not intentional or the result of negligence.”
The lawyer also says that his client has been the victim of a media witch-hunt, where her guilt was taken for granted in many reports. Not only the police but also local residents took part in looking for the baby. Today they come to the place where she was buried by the mother and are very indignant: how can a mother do such a thing to her baby? Bury her like a dog under the ruined wall? Hardly anybody believes mother`s version. Baby`s mother is a monster

Bonobo, Un fortunately we live in strange times and this kind of tragedies occur regulary in the Western world. We had a series of family tragedies the last decade. Fathers killing their families, daughters and sons and after that commit suicide. Form a former Marine corps soldier with Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome to a father who lost his job. Sometimes decent people from the outside. Neighboors telling the television news that he was such a nice neighbour, familyman and colleage. In the Netherlands there was a legal case with a mother who killed several of her babies and buried them in her garden. The succesful boss of the very succesful Gelredome soccer stadium in Arnhem, which is the most succesful concert stadium, leaving Amsterdam, Utrecht and Rotterdam (larger cities) behind. Nice family, nice wife, nice daughter. His wife had an affair (shit happens) and he kills her in while their daughters are home. He generally was seen as a nice, gentle, social man, active for his community, active in amateur sport, next to his stadium management. The murder of babies, siblings, toddlers, children and young teenagers seems to be normal today, in this time of pressure, professional lives replacing family lives and of large ego's, lack of understanding and putting things in perspective. I have seen these piles of teddy bears, candles, notes and hearts on the Dutch news to often. I don't want to be pessimistic, but I think that there is something wrong with our society, with some people, if these things take place regulary. Not only in Poland and Great Britain, but in many European countries and probably in Northern-America too. www.thelocal.de/national/20091002-22301.htmlwww.nytimes.com/2009/01/28/us/28family.htmlCheers, Pieter

Sietske H, Dutch Mother, Convicted Of Killing Her 4 Newborn BabiesA police officer searches the front of a house where the remains of four babies were found in separate suitcases / AFPTHE HAGUE, Netherlands -- A Dutch woman received a maximum 12-year prison sentence Tuesday for smothering her four newborns in an effort to conceal her pregnancies and keep up the appearance of being a perfect daughter. The woman, identified only as Sietske H. in line with Dutch privacy laws, was arrested last year after the babies' decomposed bodies were discovered in four suitcases in the attic of her house. They were born between 2003 and 2009. The District Court in the northern city of Leeuwarden convicted her of one count of manslaughter and three counts of murder. She claimed she did not want anyone to know she was pregnant and managed to conceal all four pregnancies, even from the father, before killing the newborns. The court heard that the woman killed her first by smothering her with a cushion to stop her crying. She suffocated the next three because she did not want to go to an abortion clinic, fearing questions about her earlier pregnancy, judges said. " The suspect's argument that she wanted to be the perfect daughter for her parents is understandable to a certain extent," the judges said in their written judgment. "It is incomprehensible that she let this wish override the lives of four newborn babies." Explaining their decision to impose the maximum sentence, judges said the case was about " terrible facts where a mother killed her totally defenseless babies with a pillow or her bare hands." The court said it was a mystery why the woman, who refused to undergo a court-ordered psychological evaluation, became pregnant three times after killing her first child. channel6newsonline.com/2011/05/dutch-mother-sentenced-to-12-years-for-killing-four-newborn-babies/

Sietske H, Dutch Mother, Convicted Of Killing Her 4 Newborn Babies Infanticide happens since time immemorial. In this case however everything seems to confirm it was an accident. Peter, there have been cases of murdered children in Poland too. However, this recent case was unique as the mother claimed her baby was kidnapped and that triggered amazing activity from the police and the public . When it got on the news and the mother cried and begged kidnappers to give her back her baby in front of cameras, I advised my shocked students to wait till we know more about it. I just didn`t believe in kidnapping because such things don`t happen in Poland and if they do, only once in the blue moon. It seems I was right.

Infanticide happens since time immemorial. Remember Medea? In this case however everything seems to confirm it was an accident. It is true that infanticide is one of the sinister sides of mankind and portrayed in greek mythology and the bible. Child sacrifice in Maya cultureThe remains of a child sacrificed to Huitzilopochtli in The Great Pyramid of Tenochtitlan (photo by Héctor Montaño)Mayanists believe that, like the Aztecs, the Maya performed child sacrifice in specific circumstances, most commonly as foundation dedications for temples and other structures. Maya art from the Classic period also depicts the extraction of children's hearts during the ascension to the throne of the new kings, or at the beginnings of the Maya calendar. In one of these cases, Stele 11 in Piedras Negras, Guatemala, a sacrificed boy can be seen. Other scenes of sacrificed boys are visible on painted jars. As archeologists continue to excavate, more instances of child dedicatory sacrifices are being uncovered. A dig commenced in 1974 at the northern Belize site of Lamanai turned up the remains of five children, ranging in age from a newborn to about 8 years old: " The conclusion that the five children were sacrificial victims is virtually inescapable ... Nowhere else at Lamanai is there evidence of human sacrifice, either of children or adults ... However, it is clear that the offering of children as part of the dedicatory activities that preceded the setting up of stelae was not uncommon at any time or place in the Maya lowlands." In 2005 a mass grave of one- to two-year-old sacrificed children was found in the Maya region of Comalcalco. The sacrifices were apparently performed for dedicatory purposes when building temples at the Comalcalco acropolis. An excavation at El Perú-Waka’ turned up the remains of an infant with, unusually, those of an adult male, in the presence of extensive evidence of feasting that had followed the expansion of a residence which had then been " ensouled" by the rituals, festivities and sacrifice. The analysis suggests that the " interments show that human sacrifice was not limited to the royal actors associated with the Classic Maya state, but could be practiced by lesser elites as part of their own private ceremonies."

In this case however everything seems to confirm it was an accident. I wouldn`t be so sure. That woman had had mental problems before. E.g., she had run away from home for a week or two and left her baby to be looked after by her husband and inlaws. Even if she didn`t kill the baby directly, she somehow contributed to her death. You know what I mean - careless handling might look like an accident but what if final solution was intended by the woman who couldn`t cope with her role of a mother and wanted to terminate that for ever?

During a row, both parents were fighting for the baby and it slipped out of their hands and died after hitting the concrete floor. The woman took the blame to protect her husband.

Polish officials seize $100 million in fake US bonds, detain eight suspects
26th March 2012
Polish authorities arrested eight people in connection with the discovery and seizure of $100 million in fake US treasury bonds last week.
The suspects, three Poles, two Italians, two Ukrainians and a Moldovan, were questioned on counterfeiting charges by the Lublin prosecutor’s office.
The raid was carried out by Central Anti-Corruption Bureau (CBA) agents and operatives from BOA, Poland’s anti-terrorist unit, in mid-March in regions near to Kraków and Lublin, in southeastern Poland. It was the biggest-ever seizure of fake bonds in the history of the CBA.
Citing a source close to the case, the Polish Press Agency wrote that the gang had been working with Italian mafia organizations.
“The fake bonds worth $100 million, they wanted to sell for several million z³oty,” the source said.
Earlier this year, Italian anti-mafia prosecutors seized $6 trillion in fake US bonds from three safety deposit boxes in Zurich, Switzerland. At the time, the amount represented half of the US’s public debt.

Alleged 'Warsaw beheader' lands in Poland 27.02.2016 09:47 Kajetan P., the main suspect of a brutal murder where a woman was beheaded in a Warsaw flat, on Friday arrived by military plane from the island of Malta, where he had fled. Kajetan P. on the military plane which brought him back to Poland.
The 27-year-old former librarian will be questioned by Polish investigators on Saturday. He was flown to Poland on Friday evening following an arrest on Malta.
Przemysław Nowak, a spokesman for the Prosecutor's Office in Warsaw, earlier said he was pleased at the rapid decision by the Maltese court to extradite the Pole.
"We are pleasantly surprised by the speed of events – a speed that is unheard of in other European countries, including in Poland,” Nowak said.
Firefighters were called to a flat in Warsaw's Żoliborz district earlier this month after a blaze there.
They found the headless body of a young woman in a sack. A head was later found in a backpack in the same apartment. Officers have suggested the blaze was a failed attempt to cover the murderer's tracks. Pole jailed in Denmark for robbing Chinese actress 26.02.2016 14:17 A 33-year-old Polish man has been given a ten-month jail sentence for stealing property from a Chinese actress at a hotel in Copenhagen, Denmark.
Rafał Ireneusz admitted the crime but claimed he did not know who was staying in the hotel room that he targeted in December 2015.
The defendant stole jewellery worth over half a million euros from TV star Liu Tao, together with a quantity of cash.
Besides the prison sentence, the Copenhagen City Court ruled that after finishing his jail time Ireneusz will be banned from visiting Denmark for six years.
Actress Liu Tao was apparently in Copenhagen to promote a Danish shoe brand.
“Although terrified for 24 hours... I still love this fairy-tale country,” she wrote on Chinese social media shortly after the incident.- See more at: www.thenews.pl/1/10/Artykul/242348,Pole-jailed-in-Denmark-for-robbing-Chinese-actress#sthash.RejcpY5n.dpuf

Polish police detain 21 revellers after hoax airport bomb alert 28.03.2016 11:41 Polish police said on Monday they have detained 21 people over a hoax bomb alert that prompted Warsaw's Modlin airport to evacuate hundreds of passengers and divert flights.
The airport received a call late on Sunday in which a caller claimed there were explosives at the site, which lies 40 km north of Warsaw city centre and is popular with low-cost carriers.
Dawid Marciniak, from the Polish police headquarters press department, said officers tracked down the phone from which the call was made and found a group of drunken revellers at a house party.
None of them admitted to making the hoax call and a prosecutor decided to detain all the potential suspects.
Police will attempt to pinpoint the culprit after the revellers sober up. The perpetrator faces up to eight years in prison, as well as compensation claims from airlines.
"This joke turned out be be very inappropriate," said police spokesman Marciniak.
Polish Radio reported that around 800 passengers were evacuated from planes and from a terminal at Modlin airport shortly after 10 pm CET on Sunday evening. The alert lasted several hours.- See more at: www.thenews.pl/1/2/Artykul/246393,Polish-police-detain-21-revellers-after-hoax-airport-bomb-alert#sthash.OQn4Xt4a.dpuf

This is probably the first time when images of confirmed pedophiles have been published before the trial. I hope the police knew what they were doing and have strong evidence against them. Otherwise, the damages might amount to millions. Polish investigators release images of detainees in paedophile ring case 20.07.2016 13:25 Poland’s Central Bureau of Investigation (CBŚ) has released the images of detained sex offenders involved in an international paedophile ring.
The bureau’s website features the images of 15 individuals implicated in an international network producing and distributing child pornography online.
The men, both Polish nationals and foreigners from countries such as Norway and Ireland, were arrested over a period of two years. One of the detainees is a minor, aged 17.
Since 2014, CBŚ cybercrime investigators in Poznań have identified over 750 people linked to the ring.
The detainees’ images were released after a court approved the move. The bureau has appealed to individuals who have fallen prey to the sexual predators to come forward.
The distribution of child pornography carries a sentence of up to 12 years in prison in Poland.
