How about guessing the names of Polish paintings? Either the whole painting or part of it can be used in the game. One can also provide the artist`s name but it isn`t necessary. Simple one: Side dish question - why is the jester in the foreground so thoughful?

Matejko - Hołd Pruski ( Prussian Homage ) why is the jester in the foreground so thoughful? Perhaps he had an inkling of betrayal? That painting shows the Duke of Prussia paying tribute to and swearing allegiance to KIng Sigismund I. The Kingdom of Prussia became one of the partitioning powers costing Poland her Independence. Of course, I could be barking up the wrong tree here.

This is one of my favourite paintings by a Polish artist. I have seen it in a museum and the colours are amazing up close. What is the painting called and who is it by?

There were more paintings by Matejko depicting the famous jester, Stańczyk, pondering upon the political prospects of the Commonwealth. As for the woman with a green flask, I am sure I have seen this painting but despite search, I can`t find it. I need more hints.

That painting is on display in Poznań's National Museum. He also has works on display in both Warsaw and Kraków's National Museums. He trained at the Jan Matejko Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków. He was one of Poland's first Modernists and Expressionists. He was also a sculptor and printmaker. To be honest, I don't think he's that well-known. I've tried really hard to get a print of that painting to no avail, although I doubt a print would do it justice. The colours in that painting are so rich, it shines and almost glows. I fell in love with it when I saw it.

Unless it has more than one title, you are wrong. It is called Głowa chłopca Quite possible. I must have found the title of the series instead of an individual work. This artist always gives me paws for thought ( excuse the pun), but who is this work by? Oops, now I found out that when we quote a post with an image, we can see its address which sometimes includes a hint. I was able to read the picture is by Paweł Kuczyński. Sorry, I couldn`t help it. He is sort of obsessed with cats and mice. Now, an image without any hints in its address: Who is this guy in the middle? Where are they?

You will probably find the address for this picture, seems impossible to post something without it, but you will know the artist anyway, the Polish Dali....

Is it Jan Sobieski after the Battle of Vienna? The sword with which he won the battle? Golden Karabela? Nope, it is Bolesław The Brave, chipping his sword on the Golden Gate of Kiev in 11th century. Hence, the Notched Sword or Chippy for friends. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SzczerbiecI found that out earlier than you did.....but not sure how to find pics without the address as obviously I am right clicking on copy image location. Each pic has to have its address so it is futile to look for one without it. Finding a pic without a hint like the artist`s name in the address isn`t easy but not impossible. My latest pics are like that and it costs me about a minute or two search. As for your new picture, I didn`t know the artist until I saw him in the address. Jacek Yerka. Never heard of him. Other surrealists are more known than him. E.g.,

Dali. How did you hide the address? Not Dali, we are talking about Polish artists, this is the Polish forum. I didn`t hide it, it is still there, it only doesn`t include any hints.

The artist is Wojciech Siudmak. You have some way of obscuring it then. I've just tried to post a new picture by removing the artists name from the location address, but it didn't work. I can't post new pictures then because you only have to work backwards to get the artists name.

I've just tried to post a new picture by removing the artists name from the location address, but it didn't work. I can't post new pictures then because you only have to work backwards to get the artists name. No, I don`t. I only choose pics whose address doesn`t include any hints - it is possible although you need to spend a minute of two to find one. Of course it didn`t work. The pic`s address is permanent, you can `t modify it, if you do, the link won`t work, it is natural. What does this one show?

A day out at the seaside It is a painting by Wojceich Kossak - Zaślubiny Polski z Morzem ( Polish wedding to the sea ). It shows General Józef Haller throwing one of the 2 rings received from the citizens of Gdańsk, into the sea. A symblic gesture. Another step in reinstating Poland's independence by reclaiming Gdańsk Pomerania. it is possible although you need to spend a minute of two to find one. Ok, I need to try harder!
