The Mirror and The Sun are hilarious! As is the Daily Express. It is in Gimnazjum Polskiej Macierzy Polskiej. Wow, it looks lovely on full display. A very unusual first name. I agree, I've never heard it either. Wlastimil Hofman - Dziewczyna z żabą A very unusual first name.

I agree, I've never heard it either. Wlastimil Hofman - Dziewczyna z żabą A very unusual first name. [/quote] Coz his dad was Czech. But Jews consider sb Jewish if he/she has a Jewish mother. So similarly, we can consider Mr Hoffman Polish due to his mother`s nationality. Hey, Matejko was also half Czech! Vlastimil
How about this one - I saw it many times on the walls inside schools, offices etc.

Blimey, do you think he likened himself to the skull? It's a bit creepy to say the least! Obraz „Helenka z wazonem” Stanisława Wyspiańskiego

Blimey, do you think he likened himself to the skull? It's a bit creepy to say the least! Stanisława Wyspiańskiego Well, creepy for ordinary people like us but as an artist, he had the right to express himself in that way. Yes, Wyspiański. PS. Tomorrow I am taking kids to the National Museum to see the famous paintings again. I will take new photos of details. I have googled Polish artists this time and found a new one - surrealist style, like Dali`s.

A soldier? He's wearing some type of military cap/beret that the lady seems to be adjusting? Looks like some type of disc on it.

I can't see what is being pinned to that rogatywka? Bit of a guess and I'm sure it's not right, but is he a Polish nobleman ( szlachta), a member of Konfederacja barska? Not sure if time frame is correct though. If I'm right, that hat would be known as a konfederatka.

Yes, correct, though the January Rising 1863 is depicted here. pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Po%C5%BCegnanie_i_Powitanie_powsta%C5%84ca_(obraz_Artura_Grottgera)The return

Of the two, I prefer the above painting. Something about it is quite haunting and dark.

Of the two, I prefer the above painting. Something about it is quite haunting and dark. Yes, that was the artist`s intention. The Rising failed and repressions start: fighters are tracked down by enemy and sent to Siberia or executed, properties are confiscated, towns lose priviliges, no Polish language in education etc etc.
