I have no idea why. Yesterday I saw two familes in a queue to the check out, both bought big jars of coconut oil which was probably discounted.
I heard rather bad opinions about that oil, it is harmful, mostly used in cheap foods, like chocolate bars for 50 cents.
So why? As a cosmetic?

Coconut oil is all the rage here with health food advocates. For a long time it was considered unhealthy, but lately nutritionists are taking another look at it. authoritynutrition.com/why-is-coconut-oil-good-for-you/And yes, some people use it for a skin moisturizer (my daughter rubbed it on her belly when she was pregnant to prevent stretch marks...and she didn't get any by the way.) She also adds it to her dog's food for a shiny coat! (per her veterinarian's advice).
