Funny news. I had a real laugh. It seems those populist governments are all the same. This site and article are biased, of course, but there is some grain of truth, I suppose. www.politicususa.com/2017/02/04/trumps-white-house-thinks-poland-invaded-belarus.html We have seen the disaster that is Trump’s alleged foreign policy, a collection of hackneyed tweets and erratic phone calls. Now it turns out, as revealed by the Associated Press, that the Trump White House wanted to know about a Polish incursion into Belarus, once called “White Russia,” a landlocked country wedged in between Poland and Russia, with Lithuania and Latvia to the north and Ukraine to the south. It is more than a bit disturbing that the Trump administration is so ill-informed and amateurish than it would seriously entertain the idea of a Polish invasion of Belarus.

...and he's only just getting started! It's going to be an interesting four years... Yes, that`s why I changed the title of the thread for a more universal one and I hope we will have plenty of topics to talk about for the next 4 years. President Trump got angry after a so called judge lifted the visa ban. twitter.com/realDonaldTrumpDonald J. Trump @realdonaldtrump The judge opens up our country to potential terrorists and others that do not have our best interests at heart. Bad people are very happy!
Interview with @oreillyfactor on Fox Network - 4:00 P.M. (prior to Super Bowl). Enjoy!
Why aren't the lawyers looking at and using the Federal Court decision in Boston, which is at conflict with ridiculous lift ban decision?
Because the ban was lifted by a judge, many very bad and dangerous people may be pouring into our country. A terrible decision
What is our country coming to when a judge can halt a Homeland Security travel ban and anyone, even with bad intentions, can come into U.S.?
MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!
After being forced to apologize for its bad and inaccurate coverage of me after winning the election, the FAKE NEWS @nytimes is still lost!
The opinion of this so-called judge, which essentially takes law-enforcement away from our country, is ridiculous and will be overturned!
Interesting that certain Middle-Eastern countries agree with the ban. They know if certain people are allowed in it's death & destruction!
When a country is no longer able to say who can, and who cannot , come in & out, especially for reasons of safety &.security - big trouble!
Countries charge U.S. companies taxes or tariffs while the U.S. charges them nothing or little. We should charge them SAME as they charge us!
We must keep "evil" out of our country!
A new radical Islamic terrorist has just attacked in Louvre Museum in Paris. Tourists were locked down. France on edge again. GET SMART U.S.
Professional anarchists, thugs and paid protesters are proving the point of the millions of people who voted to MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!
Meeting with biggest business leaders this morning. Good jobs are coming back to U.S., health care and tax bills are being crafted NOW!
Thank you to Prime Minister of Australia for telling the truth about our very civil conversation that FAKE NEWS media lied about. Very nice!

I took some time to peruse Pres Trump`s tweets. It is quite intriguing not only what but also how he writes. I have read a few dozen latest tweets and arrived at certain conclusions. First of all, he uses correct grammar and almost doesn`t make spelling mistakes, I have found only one tweet with them made in a hurry. Donald J. Trump @realdonaldtrump 28.01 Thr coverage about me in the @nytimes and the @washingtonpost gas been so false and angry that the times actually apologized to its.....
Secondly, he writes in a very emotional manner, as if he was still running a presidential campaign. Donald J. Trump @realdonaldtrump 27.01 I promise that our administration will ALWAYS have your back. We will ALWAYS be with you! Finally, he uses a simple language, the one that even my average high school student would easily understand, while those a bit more gifted ones would be able to use themselves. He practically doesn`t employ any idioms ( have your back above) and constantly repeats bad in reference to various contexts. Well, yes, he used evil once. Donald J. If my mum was still alive, she would love listening to Trump, just like she loved listening to Queen Elizabeth II who always speaks slowly and clearly. Unfortunately, I always warn my students against using so called primitive words like bad, good, interesting, nice, happy because they lower your result at the final written and oral exam. Examinees must show they are able to use richer and more extended vocabulary than the one even kindergarten kids have at their disposal. We do special exercises in our textbooks to practise it. If, after such practice, a student wrote Bad people are very happy, I would become really furious - sorry, I would fly off the handle and told him/her off. So, if he was a student of mine, I would advise him to replace bad with destructive, wicked, harmful etc etc. www.thesaurus.com/browse/evilThis last observation might lead one to ask about the reasons of such rhetoric. Is this style his natural way of communication, partly due to decades in business where you must speak to your subordinates and partners in an uncomplicated way without metaphors? I also use such a language in my small business - a 45 minute lesson in learner`s home costs this and this. A very simple message- and either they take it or look for another teacher. Or is it a conscious choice on the part of President who does it for the sake of his voters, many of whom are said to lack good education? www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2016/11/education-put-donald-trump-in-the-white-house/508703/And very good!

Bonobo, Your above comments actually outline here some of the reasons why the American people elected Trump to be their president. They are sick and tired of "double-speak," dishonesty, and "business as usual" politicians in Washington DC such as Hillary Clinton, etc., etc., etc. Trump does not hide who he is...what you see is what you get...and that also appeals to Americans who often only see versions of politicians the politicians want them to see. Donald T. is not trying to teach correct English here. He is speaking directly to the American people in simple, direct language that they can understand, and apparently it worked because they elected him to be their president. He is telling the people what they want to hear in a way they can understand. He is making good on his campaign promises, rather quickly! I'm glad you made a thread under this title, for I am sure there will be much to add to it in the coming days, months and years!! Stay tuned...

Do you suggest that when Trump says bad people, Hilary Clinton would say people with unclear intentions? And that`s what Americans are tired of?

Yes, Americans are sick of politicians that do not address things directly. The talk "around" things and end up saying nothing of substance about an issue. That way they cannot get in trouble for their views, plus no one can actually know what their views are because they speak so obscurely!! No danger of that with Donald T....if he's anything...he's blunt...usually blunt to a fault!

Teachers who refuse to be politically correct say so about their pupils/students in private.

In street slang in the US a "blunt" is a hollowed-out cigar that has been stuffed with marijuana!

Aah, that is why when I went to a nearby junior high school on Teacher`s Day to interview students about their dreams, a few guys told me their biggest dream was to meet Dr Blunt and to study at his academy.

No danger of that with Donald T....if he's anything...he's blunt...usually blunt to a fault! Read more: polandsite.proboards.com/thread/4578/president-trump-news?page=1&scrollTo=33742#ixzz4Xym50joRDuch people are sick of politicians that do not address things directly too. The politicians talk "around" things and end up saying nothing of substance about an issue usually. Or they say or promise one thing and do another thing when they get elected. That way they cannot get in trouble for their views, plus no one can actually know what their views are because they speak so obscurely!! Maybe it has to do with the heritage of pilarization, the multi-cultural society (they have to address a lot of different ethnic, social -class- groups and cultures. And that's why populist policitcal parties like Geert Wilders PVV and the new party Denk ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Denk , en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sel%C3%A7uk_%C3%96zt%C3%BCrk , en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tunahan_Kuzu , www.bewegingdenk.nl/ ) are so popular. These rightwing populist and leftwing populist parties of native Dutch and migrants address the needs of their constituency. If Geert Wilders is anything...he's blunt...usually blunt to a fault! He won't let himself be stopped. Only prison or assasination would stop him he himself said once. For the killing part, I am not an advocate of that. I am not in favor of political violence ofcourse. Two political assasination left mental marks in the Dutch political spectrum and toughened the Dutch political climate. To a certain point the political assasinations of Pim Fortuyn ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pim_Fortuyn ) and Theo van Gogh ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theo_van_Gogh_(film_director) ) made Geert Wilders possible. Geert Wilders is created by 911, migration, integration and assimilation problems, international terrorism in Europe, the USA and Canada and the assasinations of Pim Fortuyn and Theo van Gogh in 2002 and 2004. 2001 (the 911 attacks on New York, Washington DC and the crashed plane in Pennsylvania,- en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Airlines_Flight_93 ), 2002 and 2004 changed the Netherlands. In 2005 Group Geert Wilders emerged in parlaiment, that group later became the PVV (Freedom Party). Cheers, Pieter

So, the are 3 options for Americans to choose from in reference to the coming elections: vote for Trump vote for Biden vote for nobody
Which one do you choose? ?? ?

How come this thread has fizzled out? Hmmm. maybe it's my fault because I'm the American onboard here... Trump is on his way out, but the drama hasn't abated. He got kicked off twitter and some other social media for inciting a riot of his supporters at the U.S. Capitol Building, he wouldn't accept that he lost the election, and on, and on... Oh, also, he's been impeached a second time; the Democrats are hoping to prevent him from ever running for President again...

No danger of that with Donald T....if he's anything...he's blunt...usually blunt to a fault!Jeanne/Bo, Americans aren't the only ones that are sick of politicians that do not address things directly. European politicians can talk "around" things and end up saying nothing of substance about an issue as well. That's why leftwing and rightwing populist parties and politicians who have a simple, blunt, direct message, goal and answer to questions have such a large success. In my country Geert Wilders PPV (Freedom party), Thierry Baudet's Forum for Democracy, the Socialist Party, the leftwing Populist migrant 'Think' (= 'Denk' in Dutch) party, and the new movements List Henk Krol (HKL), Code Orange, JA21 (a split off of Forum for Democracy dissidens), and the Farmer Citizen Movement (BBB), Go Realism & Virtue/Party for the Future and NL Beter (the Netherlands Better) emerged on the stage. Like in the USA the Dutch politicians in The Hague often are far away from the people and the regions, most of them come from the Western part of the Netherlands (Holland/Utrecht area) and have little in common with the Southerners from Zeeland, North-Brabant and Limburg, the East with my Gelderland, Overijssel and Drenthe (the Low Saxon provinces, Holland people are not Low Saxons) and the North (Friesland and Groningen). So people who address the rural area's and the provinces outside Holland & Utrecht gain some votes. Probably the same thing in Poland. Bonobo will be able to tell us more about that. Cheers, Pieter
