Phew, March will be soon gone and only 3 months will remain till summer holidays - not even full months because there is Easter, May bank holidays and May final exams and the school year ends around the 20th.

It will be gone before you know it...ah, yes...then the freedom of summer! At last. The last week was quiet without classes, so I caught up with paperwork. But I am still doing it because tomorrow there is the final conference. And then - I am free. It will be gone before you know it... Like life.

So, two months of free time and hard work have just begun. Lucky you! Enjoy the rest and the hard work of gardening! I have already: weeded the whole area, installed the airconditioning and a washing machine, pruned a few trees and bushes, made a fence around rabbit`s hutch, I must: paint the outside walls, finish the smoking shed, clean the barn, gather fruit and make wine, remove plants which didn`t survive the winter and plant new ones instead, prepare holes for autumn tree planting, finish the vine construction, sow new veg for autumn crop, plant new flowers in front of the house, plant new bushes around the fence etc etc.

That is quite a "to do" list. You will need a summer break of about six months to accomplish all that!! Good luck!! Now that your boys are so grown-up, do you recruit them to help you?

Now that your boys are so grown-up, do you recruit them to help you? No, I go to sleep at 11 and get up at 6-7 am, so I have time to do a lot of things before breakfast. E..g, today I pruned fruit bushes off twigs which were too low and weeded the flower bed in front of the house. My kids have always helped me, even the youngest ones. I had got them working footwear and gloves. Today, after breakfast, they painted the wooden frame for vine and helped me plaster the holes in outside walls before painting. A few years ago it was much worse, you certainly remember those heaps of soil after ground works in the garden. We flattened them all.

Today, only 8! Be careful that you don't wish your life away! I am not sure I know this metaphor. It reminds me stories or films in which characters get involved in a game which seems quite innocent to them but soon they realise it is a game for life and is connected with timing. Why do you want to scare me?

Be careful that you don't wish your life away! I am not sure I know this metaphor. It reminds me stories or films in which characters get involved in a game which seems quite innocent to them but soon they realise it is a game for life and is connected with timing. Why do you want to scare me? Sorry, didn't mean to scare you! Since you are such a knowledgeable teacher of English, I just assumed you would know the expression. It refers to how people are constantly saying things like "I can't wait to grow up because I'll...", or "I can't wait to complete my education because then I'll finally be able to do...", or "I can't wait to retire because then I will be able to...". If they get too wrapped up in this way of thinking, pretty soon they are no longer living in the present, but thinking only about what they will do in the future. Before they know it, their life has passed and they have missed many experiences because they could not focus on/enjoy the present moment! They find they have "wished their life away!"

I am counting to Easter which is far ahead. According to Polish school system standards, I am doing 4 full-times per week. I leave at 7 and come back at 8. I am not tired yet, I still keep enthusiastic about my work, but I don`t know how long. Two months are left.....

Right now you are running on stress hormones, and even though you feel fine, your internal body is struggling to keep up the pace. You will end up "crashing" one day, and then it will be a long hard journey back to normalcy! Trust me, I know, and it has happened to me! ...just a word to the wise...slow down and relax a bit...it's not worth it!!

Trust me, I know, and it has happened to me! ...just a word to the wise...slow down and relax a bit...it's not worth it!! Please, relax. I have thought about it many times if I don`t exaggerate. But not - my work is my love and I get from it more fun and satisfaction than stress. Simply speaking, contact with students affects me positively. Even those rogue ones can be amusing if you find a key to open their hearts and minds. I am still able to do it.... Even if I work on adrenaline now, I regenerate during holidays, alltogether 3 months off school per year in my case. I have been working in this style for over 20 years now, and I feel great. The only problem is winter season when days are short and bleak and a slight depression appears. Besides, such a busy year doesn`t happen often, I have to do 34 classes in my school due to unexpected occurences. But only till the end of April - when final years leave school.

Be careful that you don't wish your life away! With such a busy schedule, it is unavoidable. Whenever I go to a private lesson, I am astonished it passed so quickly since our last meeting - I feel it was like yesterday.

The strike has been suspended for Easter. It relieved me a little but I still worked in the afternoon and evening. I would assume they suspended the strike so teachers could observe the holy days with their families...but you worked??? The school has broken up for Easter anyway so the strike was suspended naturally. Yes, I worked my private stuff. Why?

I was just a tiny bit confused...when you said you worked in the afternoon and evening, for some reason I thought you were doing work at your school (maybe prep work on the computer??) Doing your private work outside of school totally makes sense...

At last! Freedom. Not fully yet because there is still one conference next week, I have to print two documents but easy ones. But I don`t enjoy it because I know it is going to finish sooner than later.
