Irritating Poles. Much worse than the flag colours upside down is the remark about Polish death camps. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%22Polish_death_camp%22_controversy[.......] In August 2016, the cabinet of Poland, led by Prime Minister Beata Szydło and her Law and Justice party, approved legislation that would outlaw the use of the phrase "Polish death camps". It was expected to pass by wide margins in the Parliament, also dominated by Law and Justice. Under the law, a person who uses a phrase such as "Polish death camp" may be sentenced to up to three years in prison. However prison term is only for most egregious cases. A typical punishment is expected to be a fine[56][57] In Rzeczpospolita, Polish journalist Jerzy Haszczyński wrote that when the phrase appears in foreign media, it "insidiously suggests that our state and our people were responsible for German crimes", but he is unsure whom the law targets. "Almost every use of the phrase that I can recall ended with a profuse apology."[58][59] |

The thing that most irritates Euro's when here are adding tax to a purchase and tipping servers. Over the years I've come to realize that most can't do simple fractional math in their head. I've presented this thought to more than a few European Engineers and Technicians over the years and they generally concur.

Do you mean that price tags on products still show the amount before tax and you learn the final price at the checkout? As for tipping, it is simple if it involves 10%. But 15% may cause problems, indeed.  |

Maybe this Italian site that has posted the Polish flag upside down is making a subtle comment about the state of the Polish government at the moment...in distress?  |

However, I read a few comments under the upside down flag article and nobody really cared. Poles are simply above it. Polish death camps phrase causes much more intense irritation. |

They consider it defamatory as Eastern is associated with barbarism of Euro-Asian origin and style. We are not barbarians, Poles claim.
