Dear Bonobo, Keep using your Polish flag and be proud of it and don't let it be hijacked by Prawo i Sprawiedliwość, Solidarna Polska, Solidarna Polska, Kukiz'15, Ruch Narodowy (RN) and the Polish Falangists of the Narodowe Odrodzenie Polski (NOP). Keep your democratic Polish pride, freedom and beautiful Polish Patriotism which encompass pluriformity, tolerance and being open to the world. Keep showing the good Poland of the past, present and near future. Being proud of Poland, Polish culture, Polish people, Polish fine art, Polish architecture, Polish history, the Polish achievements in the past decades and in the same time tolerant towards minorities and respectful towards other nations, cultures and peoples. Like you showed us on this beautiful Forum. Cheers, Pieter I will try but I took a break from the forum to forget about all those depressing things which are happening in the country now. Yes, Peter, various bad guys are hijacking Poland and I cannot do anything, just wait for the next elections. But then it might be too late.... It seems I should stick to daily life matters and ignore politics.

Dear Jeanne and Bonobo,
I like that Jeanne expresses her opinion, but in times of danger in which anti-democratic forces try to alter or fundamentally want to change the course of a democracy in the direction of a guided democrature (something what looks like a one party state democracy) or authoritarian presidential system one have to speak out and become Politically active.
Being passive or indifferent can't change politics. One has different ways to achieve goals of freedom, democracy, tolerance and peace. First as a Roman-Catholic by praying for a good outcome. Secondly as a Political activist to actively protest, to let your opinion and voice being heard, and third by living and working in your private and professional life not according to the guidelines of the present Prawo i Sprawiedliwość administration or regime.
Cheers, Pieter

Cheers, Pieter Hi Pieter, Thanks for sharing your point of view! I can't speak for Bonobo, of course, but regarding myself, I think you may have misinterpreted what I meant when I agreed with Bonobo's statement, "It seems I should stick to daily life matters and ignore politics." I was speaking simply of not discussing politics on this forum, which for me is a vehicle of relaxation and enjoyment. I do not visit the forum to increase my anxiety about world/national affairs which could easily happen...quite the opposite! Since I don't like to discuss politics on the forum, you would have no way of knowing that I do follow politics closely in my own country and keep abreast of international politics/happenings to a certain knowledgeable degree. I voice my opinion at the ballot box in every election both state and national, and have spoken out (with good results) concerning matters in my own hometown! I have a few causes that I contribute to monetarily as well. In addition, I have spent much effort over my lifetime making sure that my own daughters understood the importance of participating in the democratic process and that they were aware of the current issues of the day...and they have all grown to be adults who participate responsibly in government and work for the good of their communities. And as a Roman Catholic (as you mentioned), I do pray not only for good outcomes, but for guidance for myself, that I may make the correct decisions concerning which candidates to support, etc. Catholic social thought supports involvement in political causes in order to bring about the betterment of society and more practices that support the dignity of human beings as children of God. I believe the manner in which I strive to live my life serves as a witness to others of my beliefs and in that way facilitates the spread of support of issues which contribute to the betterment of circumstances in society and culture for all mankind! So, please don't think that I am a "slacker" as far as politics goes! But also, please don't expect me to discuss politics on the forum which is a place I come to escape that often frustrating subject and reality! p.s. - Please, though, continue to post your thought/opinions on the forums, for I do learn a lot from your knowledge and point of view! Your postings are particularly enlightening to me because you are European and I feel I'm getting the "real scoop" from you as opposed to the biased media sources elsewhere! I do enjoy the things you post, but please just don't expect me to comment on the political issues (other than occasionally, as I have done in the past!)

Besides, I was speaking only about not wanting to discuss politics. As I said to Pieter, I do still enjoy reading your/his posts on politics because I learn a lot, but I just don't want to get into a discussion! As far as the accidents and grisly event posts, I'm sure there are others who like to read this stuff; please don't deny them because of me...and I often do read those...after all, they are part of life!
