As Wilma declares her undying love for Jeff, he receives an unexpected call from his girlfriend, Julia, leaving him in a dangerous situation. Great comedy from the BBC series Coupling.
I am a British comedy fanatic. And Coupling was one of my favorite English comedies next to Smack the Pony, Greenwing, Alan Patridge, Litte Britain, Absolutely Fabulous, French and Saunders, A Bit of Fry & Laurie (1987, 1989–1995), Alas Smith and Jones, Not the Nine O'Clock News, Blackadder and Monty Python’s Flying Circus. British sense of humor is so funny, hilarious, painful, human and intense because it has an element of selfmockery, puting things into perspective and a brilliant way of portraying awkward and strange moments in life.
The Poles, jews, Dutch people, Americans, Italians, French and German people have their own unique kind of humor. British humor is one of a kind.
Bo,
Could you post something about typical Polish sense of humor, Polish stand up comedy, the Polish comic tradition and Polish cartoons. Your own ironic sense of humor is part of the quintessence of this serious Forum. In the Netherlands I have often difficulties with people who lack a sense of humor.
Cheers, Pieter
