American slider turtles became popular pets in 1990s. I have still kept my own one from that time. But most owners let their turtles out when they grew too big. Today, reports about seeing or catching American turtles in Polish reservoirs happen every day. They are a threat to our local species of the mud turtle which had already become very rare before the invasion.

I am wondering what that mink is eating......it looks like a giant woodlouse. Nope, it is another representative of an invasive species, some kind of crayfish, I vaguely remember where from, Crimea or sth??? The photo is unique coz the photographer managed to combine two of them.

The first specimens of the blue crab have been seen in Poland. Amasing! In the USA it is caught for food. Will Poles have their own edible crab species at last???
