No words can render what Kora and Maanam did for Poles in troubled times of 1980s. They were a great authority to me and other young people. I was a high school student then, I bought all the group`s albums - more than anybody else`s. Life was definitely easier and more colourful when you could listen to their songs. Besides, Kora was closer to our hearts because she lived in Krakow.
She made a perfect team with her husband, Marek Jackowski, who composed awesome music while she wrote wise beautiful lyrics and then sang them in her unique style - either romantic or wild.

Kora or Olga Sipowicz died on Saturday morning aged 67. She was the lead singer of rock band Maanam. As a teenager, she was under a strong influence of artistic and hippie circles in Kraków. The band has released many unforgettable hits such as "Boskie Buenos", "O! Nie rób tyle hałasu", "Kocham cię, kochanie moje", "To tylko tango" czy "Lucciola". Kora was the author of most of the lyrics. Kora has been fighting with a genetic ovarian cancer. She informed about her illness in 2014.
