I once read memories of Krystyna Janda, a famous Polish actress. In one chapter she writes about her nearly adult children. She boasts of having a great daughter who she is proud of because she is intelligent, independent and she knows what she wants from life and is determined to get it. It is obvious she won`t allow any male dominate and exploit her, just like males like doing with women.
At the same time Janda expresses her concern about her son who is weak and easily influenced, especially by females. When he meets one that he likes, he virtually melts and will do anything for her. Janda is really worried.
I immediately considered it a double standard thinking. Talking about her daughter, Janda praises strong character in women while talking about her son, she seems to object to such women. I thought is unfair.
Is that a trait of other women that they can`t see things in neutral terms but have to take sides when it comes to their children?
