The update on American news from Polish media. I hope I will provide it regularly here. I think the best source is TVN, a TV station owned by an American company. I like it cause, compared to PiS controlled state media, it is fully independent and quite objective. Simply speaking, they are not afraid of PiS and do their job. Without them, PiS would have a tragic monopoly on information with their lying propaganda. The recent news is how Trump lashes in his tweets at 4 liberal female Congress members, the so called Squad, suggesting they should go back to their own countries. But only one of them comes from Somalia! That is a bit unfair of Trump. He also imputes they don`t love the USA and should apologise for their hateful words. Earlier, they had vehemently critisized Trump for organising that roundup of illegals all over the USA. The House of Representatives, including 4 Republicans, condemned Trump`s tweets as racist. tvn24.pl/donald-trump-o-kongresmenkach-nie-sadze-by-byly-w-stanie-kochac-usa,954744,s.html The Squad

On second thoughts - I am looking at this photo above and the lady in that African turban looks relatively young. It is quite surprising that Congress has such young members. I imagined they should be grey-haired, distinguished gentlemen and mature gentlewomen. Her name is Ilhan Omar and she is the one from Somalia, born in 1982, elected when she was 34. Her election made a few firsts in American politics: the first Somali-American, the first naturalized citizen from Africa, the first non-white woman elected from Minnesota, and one of the first two Muslim women to serve in Congress.en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ilhan_Omar It all illustrates what important changes are taking place in the States, namely the evolution of the democratic society`s traditional conservative attitude, especially of the white race`s. Minnesota is mostly a white state and they elect coloured people to Congress. Very unusual. worldpopulationreview.com/states/minnesota-population/White: 83.75% Black or African American: 5.95% Asian: 4.66% Two or more races: 2.81% Other race: 1.74% Native American: 1.05%

The Constitution of the U.S. requires members of the House of Representatives be at least 25 years old, a citizen for 7 years, and live in the state they represent. She meets the requirements... I think this just goes to show how European and other foreign attitudes/opinions have been shaped by the media rather than by reality. Most Americans are really not as bigoted as they are believed to be by other nationalities.

Most Americans are really not as bigoted as they are believed to be by other nationalities. Of course I didn`t mean she doesn`t suit the Congress. I only found it funny that US and Poland have similar ways, cause our Parliament members can also be quite young. As for European opinion, it is also shaped by US media. Don`t forget I read some Am sites from time to time. I read that the biggest concentration of liberals is on both Coasts, while the interior is more conservative. Or Minnesota, as close to Canada, is also liberal ?

Democrats counted on Special Counsel Mueller`s testimony to help them impeach Trump for his connections with Russia before and during elections. But Mueller didn`t say anything important. time.com/5635273/mueller-testimony-democrats-impeachment/In the wake of Robert Mueller’s hotly anticipated Congressional testimony, one thing was clear: House Democrats will continue to wrestle with the question of impeachment— even as some believe the window to pursue it gets increasingly smaller.
In the four months since the former special counsel submitted his report on Russian interference in the 2016 election, the number of Democratic lawmakers pushing for an impeachment inquiry has jumped to nearly 90, according to a count from the New York Times. This was partially due to the contents of the report, particularly the 10 instances Mueller laid out where he alleged President Donald Trump may have tried to obstruct the investigation But the push also came from the way the White House has been stonewalling Congress, preventing high-profile witnesses from producing documents and testifying at hearings.
Mueller’s testimony broke that trend, giving Democrats the high profile moment they were seeking.
“I do believe that what we saw today was is very strong manifestation in fact some would even say indictment of this administration’s cone of silence in their coverup,” House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said after the hearing on Wednesday.
But Pelosi’s confidence about the outcome hearing, which was hardly a blockbuster — Mueller, who often spoke shakily and softly, hardly made for compelling television — belied the tensions within the caucus on how to move forward now that this chapter has officially closed. Liberal activist groups were clearly hoping that Mueller’s testimony would push Pelosi, her deputies and other Democrats resistant to impeachment on board. But the biggest revelation from his testimony was his staunch assertion that Russians and other foreign adversaries would attempt election interference in 2020; damning, to be sure, but hardly ripe ground for impeachment. In the aftermath of Mueller’s testimony, several Democratic members of Congress, including the sixth highest ranking member, Democratic Caucus Vice Chair Katherine Clark, came out in favor of an inquiry, but it was not a massive wave.

Oh, yes, when I said "media," I meant all media, U.S. included! I'd say it is true that the liberals are concentrated on both Coasts. My state of Massachusetts is one of the most liberal in the country, much to my chagrin! I'm not sure if being close to Canada has anything to do with it, but Minnesota tends to be a "blue" state, that is, it usually votes Democratic Party in the Presidential elections, qualifying them to be considered liberal. From what I have read, many Minnesotans living in rural areas are more conservative voters, but the state gets the "liberal" name-tag because in the Presidential elections, due to the electoral college, the winner gets all the votes from the entire state, even if the margin is small.

Don`t US liberals work hard so that common people have better lives?? ): That may be what the liberals think they do, but of course then you run into the problem of defining what exactly are "better lives." There is not always agreement between liberals and conservatives on the definition!

[ There is not always agreement between liberals and conservatives on the definition! Yes, that`s why parties take turns at power coz voters still try to find that Santa Claus that will make their lives better.

Yes, that`s why parties take turns at power coz voters still try to find that Santa Claus that will make their lives better. Yes, exactly...that is how the two-party system works in the U.S. We elect one party, and then by the next election we find fault with them, so we elect the other party, until we become sick of them and once again elect the first party; and the cycle continues ad nauseam....
(p.s. You know how I dislike politics!)
