A 49-year-old man from Opoczno was responsible before the court, inter alia, for extortion of damages and theft. The last sentence concerned excise offenses. The man did not appear to serve the sentence, therefore the court issued an order to bring him to a prison.

The detainee made a living from crimes. He never took up any other job. The man led to the depletion of the state treasury by several hundred thousand zlotys - explained Barbara Stępień.

The resident of Opoczno was detained at his place of residence many times. Each time the policemen found him in a new hiding place prepared by him - she emphasized.

The spokeswoman said that the man was constantly renovating his house and invented new lockers in which he not only kept illegal cigarettes and alcohol, but also tried to hide from policemen himself.

Most often, these were additional rooms hidden behind camouflaged doors. Family members helped the man in hiding , informed Stępień.

On Wednesday, policemen again knocked on the 49-year-old's house. They saw that the man was at home and at the sight of the policemen, he ran away towards the basement. C family members lied to the policemen, claiming that the man was not at home - she noted.

The policemen successively checked the premises of the building. Some of them were renovated again. They checked every element of the basement and discovered movable shelves that were loaded with various objects. It turned out that a small hiding place, 1.5 meters high, was hidden behind the shelf, in which the wanted person was hiding. Illegal cigarettes were also found there - Stępień reported.

The man was detained and taken to prison to serve a prison sentence.
