This was where the final countdown began. Despite almost 38 years on the neck, Jancarz was in great shape. Soon he is to start in the finals of the individual world championships. However, instead of fighting for the coveted title of the best speedway rider in the world, dark clouds are gathering over his career. On August 9, 1984, Jancarz takes part in a test match against Italy. In front of his fans, in Gorzów, for the last time he presents himself in all its glory.

Rembas: - The accident was very serious. In my opinion, he should have given up playing sports by then, but he didn't want to give up. He was back on the track, but it wasn't what it used to be. He was already driving by force, it stopped working for him. He was getting tired.
- It was a decisive moment in his life. In this race, I rode with him. I remember it like today. Valentino Furlanetto had a machine thanks to which he won virtually all starts. I made an appointment with Edek that if it happened this time, I was to ride on the curb, and he would attack along a large curve. It happened. The Italian won the start, but I did not give up. On the third lap I started to seriously threaten him, and at that moment Edward was overtaking him ... - Nowak remembers scenes from nearly four decades ago with great emotion.
