Who or what is that silver being? Is he/she/it good or bad? It's a martian from the Piotr Szulkin film, War of the Worlds: Next Century. I think the Martians are supposedly the good guys, at least initially, it's the government and security forces who aren't. |

Yes, Szulkin`s War of the Worlds, a satire at a totalitarian country where the main tool to control the society is TV. A depressing film, but inspiring, too. Although made in communist times, it is still valid today if we look at how current rightist rulers are using state TV and radio - pure lies and black propaganda all the time. No, Martians weren`t good coz they needed blood. And obtained it in brutal ways.   |

Martians weren`t good coz they needed blood. The impression I got was that it was the security services giving the Martians blood, but I have only read about this film and not seen it. I didn't realise that blood is what the Martians actually wanted. That part wasn't made that clear, at least in English language explanations. Thanks for putting me right. it is still valid today if we look at how current rightist rulers are using state TV and radio - pure lies and black propaganda all the time. I find it sad that nothing has changed and I don't think it ever will. Greed and corruption are everywhere. |
