We visited the town twice and always ate the biggest pizza we have ever had in Poland. www.onet.pl/turystyka/onetpodroze/gdzie-na-weekend-miejsca-na-ciekawy-weekend-w-polsce-urocze-miasta-lista/n20r4xd,07640b54 Chęciny is a small town located in the Kielce county, inhabited by about 4.3 thousand people. It is situated in the western part of the Świętokrzyskie Mountains. The main tourist attraction of Chęciny are the ruins of the castle, which was built at the turn of the 13th and 14th centuries. The building was a frequent place of concentration of Polish troops, departing e.g. for the fight against the Teutonic Knights. Chęciny received city rights in 1325.
The "Niemczówka" tenement house, where the Tourist and Historical Information Center is located, is also worth paying attention to. "Niemczówka", built at the end of the 16th century, represents the basic type of Chęciny from that period. The name of the tenement house is associated with the former owners who were probably German by origin. After the renovation carried out in 2010, the historic cellars were opened to the public.
In the vicinity of Chęciny there is a real "tourist gem", i.e. the Raj Cave. It was formed about 350 million years ago, but was not discovered until 1963 during mining works on the slope of Mount Malik.

Wow, that pizza is huge! I'll have to remember about that place if I ever visit Chęciny again - thanks for the recommendation Btw, there were battle scenes shot for "Pan Wołodyjowski" in the vicinity of that castle (my father was one of the extras). The Raj (Paradise) cave got called like that apparently because not that far from it there's a cave called Piekło (Hell) lol And that's not the only "Hell" in the świętokrzyskie region - there's also a nature reserve called "Skałki Piekło" (Hell Rocks lol) with some "hellish" rocks : roadtripbus.pl/skalki-pieklo-pod-nieklaniem/polskazachwyca.pl/ciekawostki/pieklo-nieklanskie-diabelskie-skalki/
