I am wondering if Poland and other neighbors have earthquakes. I never heard anyone talk about it. I know there are lot of mountains in Poland and other countries.
Just curious! Did I missed it?

Most cases, you need be near a fault line, like in Missouri. They could have a fault line in Poland, but I have never heard of it.

Mike Oh I see, I know upper part of Poland is Red Sea or what is the name of Sea. So Poland or other countries don't have volcanco too. I am surprise they have high mountains. I have been in Hilo, Hawaii. I was lucky to miss it by three week. I even went on tour to see how it look. Wow, it was very interesting. Lot of lava.

Check your map, it is not the red sea. When you have the correct name, let me know, since, I now know.

Your post is well timed. There was a little earthquake in central Poland a few days ago. 4.7 Richter scale. polskalokalna.pl/wiadomosci/lodzkie/news/trzesienie-ziemi-w-lodzkim-5-st-w-skali-richtera,1428324,3286 It was caused by mining activity in the area.
Strong earth tremors felt in central Poland 22.01.2010 08:14
Earth tremors were felt this morning in the area around Belchatow, near Lodz, central Poland.
Preliminary findings by seismologists say strength of the tremors, which occurred at 05.00 CET, was more than 4.5 degree on the Richter scale. There have been no reports of any damage, however.
The KWB Belchatow colliery is situated to the south and west of the area. Jacek Trojanowski from the Institute of Geophysics at the Polish Academy of Sciences told TVN24. “This is a mining district and is familiar with earth tremors. But one this strong is fairly rare.”
In his opinion the shock was caused by nearby mines, "apparently was connected with the open cast mine in Belchatow”.

I was thinking about Haiti and worry about Poland too. Few years ago we Illinois did have minor earthquake, we all felt it shaking around 4:00am in morning. TV news said it was near Missouri & Southern Illinois. I am always worry.
